"Dear Diary,

Today, I face the heat. I've decided to go back to Southside high school, even after what happened last year. I'm scared but ready to fight, only if needed, hopefully, it doesn't make it to that point. Mom and Dad tried to convince me to switch schools, he has connections and although we have the money could get me into a really nice private school on the Northside, but I don't back down from a fight that easily, I needed this to make me a better person. I was a Lesbian, African American, a target in every which way, a 'gay', a 'black' and women, I was observed as weak, and I was belittled because I preferred women to men, and you know what? Fuck it! I was tired of being treated like I nothing, today is the day, I walk into that school with my head held high, leaving everyone to be disappointed in their attempts to get me down. Anyway, it's 6:55 and I have to get going, wish me luck!

xoxo, Love yours, Y/N."

I laid my pen in the place of the last page I wrote on and close my diary, shoving it back under my mattress, "It's a shame, I have to hide that from my parents," I laugh shaking my head, hopping out of bed, to finish beating my face,

"Honey, are you almost ready?" My mom asked as I sprayed my setting spray on my face,

"I'll be down after I slip on my sandals!" I yell back slipping on my sandals, smiling at my pedicure, I grab my purse and my bookbag and turn the lights off walking out my room, "Do I get to take the car?" I asked my mom, after meeting her at the bottom of the stairs,

"Yes, if you want to, but why do you want to go back to Southside high school, let me and your dad send you to the private school, please!" I looked at me mom and shook my head,

"Mom, I got this, I promise!" I kiss her cheek, plucking the keys from her fingers,

"Please don't get expelled," I wink at her,

"I can handle myself, see you after school, tell daddy I love him." I blow her a kiss before walking out the door, rolling my head, "Here we go!"

I had been sitting in the parking lot staring at the school for the last ten minutes, "Come on! I can do this!" I grab my bag, pull the keys out of the ignition and hop out the door, hitting the lock button, "I can do this!" I reassure myself, walking up to the doors,

I open the doors and walk in, some eyes on me, some focused on the tiny mirrors in lockers, others already gossiping, "I'm so sorry!" I turned to find a small red-head kid picking up his papers, Jacob, my ex, hovering over him,

"Watch where you're going...faggot!" My jaw drops,

"Jacob, watch your fucking mouth, " I turn to walk toward him and the kid,

"Y/N, take your pretty ass on somewhere," I rolled my eyes,

"Ew! Jacob you know I think you're disgusting...kid, come on!" I stuck my hand out and he reluctantly took it, jumping to his feet,

"You like this little faggot here? Oh, yeah! I forgot you liked girls now," I roll my eyes, and turn to walk away, "Don't forget your little puppy," I turned back to the kid and motioned for him to follow me,

"Shut up, shrimp dick," Jacob's face turns cherry red and the kid laughs, "Come on, we're going to get lunch,"

"W-what?" I smile at him,

"We're going to get lunch," I restate as we walk toward the exit, "I'm over school already anyway, where do you want to go?"

"Wait! We're going to lunch?"

"Yes, have you ever had sushi, I know this great place, on the Northside,"

"We'll never make it back in time, and I don't want to miss the first day of school,"

"I'll talk to my dad, now, let's go."
