Crystal sat in her bed. That seemed to be all she ever did anymore. Just sat there, in her bed. She rarely ate, didn't sleep much. The last time she had went out of her house was about 8 days ago. She would have to go out soon anyway, her food supply was running low and she had to do something every once in a while. Even though it was summer, the few months in between school that students were free to do whatever they wanted while waiting for next semester, but for the past two weeks, all Crystal had done was sit, in her room, on the bed, possibly watch some TV, or do anything at all. That's not to say that she was lazy, no, in fact, she was the exact opposite, she hated doing nothing, but at the moment, Crystal didn't care. As her mom would say, she was just having another episode, and as the kids in elementary school said, She was just being over dramatic. But Crystal didn't care, not one bit, about this time she didn't care much about anything, but she had to get up, and get food. She still had somewhat basic necessities. Crystal sat up sighing and stretching out, her scarlet hair flowing out behind her in waves and her blouse that faded from green to blue thinning as the cloth stretched. Crystal stood up after that and, walking to the door or her plain dorm, slipping her boots on while walking, before stepping out the door, and down the stairs towards regular civilization. The school plaza was alight with people that were enjoying the summer, but Crystal only had one reason to be out here, food. She shuffled past the crowd, avoiding any contact, and not looking up till she got past everyone. Now as she shuffled down the sidewalk, her head tilted slightly upward so she could see, brushing a strand of hair out of her face every once in while. The boots making a slight shiff as she walked down the empty street. Turning into the door at her regular grocer. She received a polite wave from the cashier as she started to browse the items. She felt a tap on her shoulder, and turned around to the face of a friendly looking sir. She blinked, staring at his dark brown eyes and olive skin.

"Hey, do you need any help with anything" He said, a bit awkwardly, but kinda cute in that manner.

"N..No thank you" Crystal said, bowing her head slightly.

"Worth a shot..." Said the man, starting to walk off.

Worth a shot? What was his reason for asking. Crystal pondered this for a few seconds. "W..Wait!" she called out, barely realizing it. The shop helper stopped and turned around.

"Do you need something?" he asked, a cooler tone to his voice.

"Wh..What did you mean, when you said 'worth a shot'" she said, a bit louder than anticipated.

"Oh. You see, I'm a new employee here, and I have to get a certain amount of customer experience before I get the full time job" he spoke this with a nervous tone, rubbing his neck, a hand thrown awkwardly into his pocket.

"W..Well, I guess i do need the tea box up there" She said, pointing to one a bit out of her reach. The boy reached up, retrieved it, and held it out to her. She took it gratefully "Thanks.."

"My name's Ace, by the way" he said giving her a cheerful smile.

"Crystal" she replied a faint smile touching her lips.

It had been so long since she last smiled. People that could bring a smile to your lips instantly, those were the people that belonged in another world. She knew that Ace was from the same planet as her instantly. She was home now, the memory of him still fresh in her mind. And she laughed, a sweet, cheerful laugh, the kind that lit up the entire room, because her laugh was a rare one, just like her smile, because her true smile, and true laugh were for those special enough to cause it. Crystal kicked off her boots and skipped to her kitchen, putting the groceries away. She knew that the happy, warm, cozy feeling wouldn't last long, but she was going to enjoy it while it was. Crystal pulled out the milk and chocolate, pouring the milk into a glass, and filling the microwave with it. After it heated, she mixed in the chocolate,  taking the hot glass and wrapping up in her fluffiest blanket, turning on one of her favorite movies. That was enough for now. To be pleasant. Crystal fell asleep watching her favorite movie, her cocoa sitting on the night-side table, warm and cozy.

*Author's note: Sorry for the short chapter, I hope to get these chapters longer towards the future, but this seems like a good place to stop. Hope you enjoy it so far. ;)
