Later that night, at dinner, everyone was looking at me as I sat down next to Roman.
Roman reached for the food and my dad laughed.
"Rome, looks like you are saying grace tonight." Brian said to Roman.
"Holy father thank you for this food, our new family member Elizabeth, and fast cars, amen."
A course of amens came from around the table, and then every dug in.
"So Beth, what is your favorite color?" Roman asked.
"Orange." I answered.
No one really talked during dinner but I liked the silence.
