"I don't wanna go in..." I whine to no one in particular, staring at the entrance of the school wishing Kevin could come back for me

"Oh come on, it'll be fine you got us, dufus number two here..."

"Hey I heard that."

"....will be your bodyguard whenever ya'll got classes and don't forget you get to see my pretty face at lunch." smiling at that she says "Now put your game face on and if someone feeling froggy look into their eyes and say "Then leap bitch!"

"Serai..."

"Okay, don't do that, just have a great first day back." Giving me a hug she looks to both Eric and I and said " See ya at lunch." And off she went, heading to a small group of girls I never envied anyone as much as I seem to at that moment "You ready?"

Turning to Eric, sighing I said "I guess."

"A'ight let's go then." Heading closer and closer inside, my heart rate began to pick up.

Deep breathes Tamia, deep breathes...

As we entered the hallway where the lockers we're located, all my old fears came rushing back. The name calling, the taunts, all the brutality it all came back and back with a vengeance I immediately lower my head to avoid looking anyone in the face, knowing it was only a matter of time before it all started.

"What are you doing?" "Nothing." I mumbled quietly "Then why you got your head down?" "I.." Before I could even answer someone yelled "Oh looky here, the whale's back." Everyone busted out laughing glancing at Eric I found him looking around oblivious to the fact that they were talking bout me. Trying not to show any emotion I said "Maybe it's best if you didn't walk with me." Realization finally dawning on him he looked towards the person that made the comment, narrowed eyes, muscles flexed he said "Who the fuck you think you spitting words to like that." "Nah, dude it ain't even like that, I was talking to the walking wha..." "You sure you wanna finish that sentence?" He barked getting closer and closer to him. "Nah man." "Good Answer. Come on Tamia we got class." Quickly heading towards him with my head still down he grabbed my arm while scanning the hallway waiting for anyone else to say something but being smart enough they didn't but I did catch a few girls whispering bout "Fatso" and her new human shield.

"Listen I got English what's your first class?" "Math." I whispered knowing what was coming next "don't worry you'll be fine, see ya at second period." "Yeah okay, bye." "Nah I'm walking you to class." "But it's upstairs and you'll be late for English." "I'm new I'm sure I'll get a pass plus Kevin would have my ass if anything happen to you." Smiling at just the thought of him, Eric chuckled "You got it bad yo." What was I to say to that, when in all honesty I think he might be right.

After getting to class everything seem to go okay, a few mean comments here and there but I've learned to avoid and pretend everything was just fine that was until the teacher Mrs. Clarke got called away hoping and praying wasn't gonna work, cause as soon as she left Brianna eyes landed on me.

The moment she got up I tried shirking myself in my seat half hoping for the floor to just open up and swallow me whole "Hey Tamia."

Watching her every move intensely I answered "Hi?"

Brianna talking to me can't be anything good

"How you been it's been a minute since we've seen you."

"What? You saw me at the mall yesterday."

"Oh yeah, that's right you was with with that fine ass, um what was his name?"

"Um it's Kevin."

"Well Kevin's hot mhmm wonder if he's single."

"Um..."

"What, do you know?" Realizing I really didn't know if he was or not my heart sunk, what if he already had someone what if he was just being nice to me and that kiss meant nothing to him, it's not like he's said anything I don't know what to think "No I don't."

"Too bad, but no worries I'll find out soon enough see you around 'T'"

She Waved with a smile on her face if I didn't know better I'd think she was up to something I just pray it doesn't involve me.
