Heaven on Earth

Chapter 1

(8 days before Alexia's 18th birthday party)

Alexia's POV:

"Ugh!! Guess what my mom said I have to do today Kate."

(Kate) "What?"

"I have to go to some stupid safety briefing. We do them now at every big event ever since Uncle Gerrick killed my father."

"Oh yeah, how did that happen again?"

"My uncle Gerrick had always wanted the throne, so he was super angry when my grandfather decided to give my father the power instead of him. On my tenth birthday he brought in a ton of guards and stole and killed my father, but he didn't know that our island customs say that my mom would come into power before he did. After he had killed my father he was tried in our palace court. My mom banished him and his guards off our home and to a small uninhabited island."

"Is he even going to come back?"

"I doubt it. If he hasn't come back by now... I mean I am turning 18."

"This is a big birthday for you than! You get the throne, and to meet your future husband."

"I've met him before but we were younger then. We met each other in the nursery, but we still write each other a lot."

"Awwww!!! Lex, you obviously like this guy. So what's his name?"

"His name is Prince Felix. He lives on an island near ours. And I do have to admit that he is pretty dang cute..."

"And you get to see him today?"

"Yeah, we are spending ALL week together!!!"

"Yay! I am so happy for you, and a little jealous."

(Queen) "Alexia, you are going to make us late. Come, now!!!"

"Sorry Kate, I have to go. See you at my birthday party!"

"Luv ya Lex! Have fun with you boyfriend."

I rolled my eyes and ran down the steps to meet my mother.

"Alexia there you are. I have called you about a hundred times. When will you learn that every princess has to be on time?"

"I'm sorry mother. I was talking to Kate."

"Well we were supposed to meet the prince and his father but I guess we will just have to see them at the Banquet later, she sighed."

"I'm sorry mom."

When we walked into the ballroom it was full of guards and royal advisors, but then I saw Prince Felix. He was leaning up against a wall waiting for the briefing to start. He caught me staring and gave me a stunning smile. My heart fluttered in my chest. For the first time ever I was actually excited for one of my mom's parties.
