"My child." A man whispered as he stared at a baby girl in his wife's arms.
"Yes, yes, Poseidon, but we mustn't tell Percy." She said as she cradled her baby.
The child started to squirm, she started to wail. She was crying. Her little hands were grabbing at her father.
"Oh Pearl, calm down." He said as he picked her up.
She was small and frail. She would cry many times in the night. She was born at midnight on April 12th. She had looked a lot like her father. The same sea blue eyes, same brown hair.
Her hands were enclosed around Poseidon's finger. She started to quiet down in his arms. He rocked her gently, her eyes closed, and her breathing slowed a little. She was asleep.
"I don't want to give her away." The wife said as she wiped a tear away.
"You... might have to Sally, but don't worry, she'll be under my watch." He replied.
"Can't she at least stay until she's 5?" Sally asked.
"If you can keep Percy away from here," Poseidon said to her.
"I'll try." She took Pearl into her arms. "You'll be safe my baby girl." She rocked her back to sleep.
