SetBacks for Kitty

Yea I have a new cat... it's a long story though. So there's this outdoor cat that I feed who was pregnant, but she had her kittens last Monday-Tuesday ish. Now yesterday around 4 Am my neighbors (across the street who my mom is well acquainted with) heard squawking and couldn't figure out what it was from. They ended up having to rip off their bathroom floor and found the mother and five kittens. Now here's where things get a bit dark so I'll write it italics. So two kittens were dead and two were gasping for air. The mother was there and was thought to be eating one of the dead kittens. The little run was the only one who survived. The neighbors put the kitten in a box with a heating and blanket and went off to work. As soon as they got home they brought the week old kitten to us and explained how they don't know how they ended up in an I closed space underneath their house. They also brought over the box of dead kittens. Now they only did that because since we fed the mother she was technically our cat (by the unspoken rules of my neighborhood) so by then my mom wakes me up and says she needs help. I didn't know what she needed help with but I remember walking into the hallway seeing my mom holding a tiny brown kitten in her palm. Like she is extremely tiny. We didn't know what to do because although we have fostered kittens before, we normally fostered them when they were already weened. So I called my brother and had him go to the pet story to get a bottle (for feeding kittens) and kitten formula. We then got a got a plastic box and put my moms heating pad in it on low. We put a blanket in there, and a dish rag that she really seemed to like before putting the kitten in there. For and hour (this is while my brother was at the pet store) she cried because she was starving. We ended up trying to feed her cows milk. WHICH YOU SHOULD NEVER DO!!!! We only did this because she was starving and didn't know how much longer she could last! Time skip we got the formula and tried feeding her but she wasn't having it. Another time skip the mother ended up coming back. We convinced her to come inside (after locking up the other two cats and the dog in my moms bedroom) and had her nurse for a bit. When she was done nursing we let her leave. The kitten stayed over night.

Present time she still isn't taking the formula and only eats when her mom comes back. Now since we are doing it this way we constantly have to check on her to make sure she's alive because she gets very quiet and still when she sleeps. Sometimes when it comes to checking to see if she's alive it means waking her up by rubbing her back and hand gently with one finger. We rather hear her cry about being woken up rather than not checking on her and risking her dying. Now because of this I have to spend a lot of my free time with the kitten which I don't mind but I don't get a lot of writing in. So if my chapters are short that's why. Also we don't know the gender but they seems to be like a girl which is why I refer to them as a she. Her name is Pudge as of right now because we usually wait until they show their personality before naming them. Also because I would hate to refer to them as an it so Pudge (because she overate a bit last night and was Pudgy)
