Logan was walking down the hall a book in hand as he made his way to his locker. He'd trudged the path so often he didn't even have to look up from whatever it was he was reading to make it there.

That is till an unwanted obstacle came and tried to trip him, but he quickly caught himself.

"Nerd." The jock scoffed at him. He and his friends laughed as they walked the opposite way without a care.

Logan rolled his eyes with an annoyed sigh and just continued on.

"Roman Roman Roman!" Patton chirped happily as he practically hopped into first period and sat next to one of his closest friends. "Guess what~"

"Whatever could it be?" He replied back with a slight chuckle.

"I~ talked to the assistant director of the school play and found out that you got the lead!" He smiled waiting for the happy reaction he knew would come.

"Really?! Yes, that's great!" Roman couldn't help but show his excitement. "Who's playing the other lead?"

"Anxiety." Patton shrugged casually.

"What?! That emo nightmare?" He suddenly didn't seem as happy.

"Yeah your guys' drama teacher made him try out and he got the part." Patton replied. "I mean you have to admit he does fit the character quite well."

"Yeah, but he doesn't have any appreciation for theater, especially one of the musical genre, he'll ruin the play!" Roman pouted slightly.

"Awe you don't know that. I'm sure everything will turn out fine." Patton patted him on the back.

"I'm gonna be so late!" Patton panicked sloppily carrying all of his things and shutting his locker with his foot. He then practically sprinted down the hall to his classroom. He turned the corner and suddenly collided with someone. Both of them being thrown to the ground by the impact.

"Christ, again honestly can't someone read in the hall without being hindered by a human disincentive?" The boy grumbled.

"S-sorry! I'm so sorry!" Patton said frantically gathering all of his things he'd dropped and shoving them into his bag.

"Whatever, I guess if it was accidental I'll consider forgetting the predicament. Not that I ever forget anything..." he muttered the last part so it was hardly audible. "Where have my glasses gone?"

"Oh uh..." Patton searched around desperately already feeling bad enough. He then noticed the pair of frames, ironically similar to his, hanging from the cardigan tied around his neck. He couldn't help but give a small laugh. "How'd that happen? Oh well at least they didn't break." He then took them off opening them and sliding them back onto the boy's face. "There you go." He then picked his book up also handing it to him.

He adjusted his glasses and took the book as they stood. "Much obliged."

"Um you're welcome..." He replied in slight confusion this guy talks weird... Patton physically flinched as the late bell rang. Great...

"It seems as though you are tardy. You may want to hasten." Was the only other thing he said before walking away.

Yes very weird... he then let out a sigh and started running back to class.

"Wait a second..." Patton trailed off looking at his teacher in confusion. "You're moving me to the honors English class?"

"That's right." She smiled back at him happily. "You've show great potential in your writing, and it's still early enough to move you."

"Ha... I'm not that good." He chuckled rubbing the back of his neck bashfully. "I just write from the heart."

"Exactly! People eat that up! You're honest, and have the ability to invoke emotion." She said with obvious excitement. "And it's not just that, your reading levels are more advanced than what we do in here. I just really think this is something you should pursue. Besides it's never bad to have an honors class for when you apply for college."

"That's true, but I'll miss you teaching me." He pouted slightly.

She laughed quietly. "Don't worry, my door's always open to you Patton. Besides you're taking creative writing next semester and I'm the only teacher for that, so we'll see each other again later in the year."

"I guess... I really wouldn't mind moving then." He cheered up.

"Great! I knew you'd say yes. I told Mr. Conti to expect you. You start today!" She happily handed him the slip of paper.

Patton walked into his new English class a few seconds before the bell rang. Everyone had already chosen their seats and were talking semi-quietly, the teacher, Mr. Conti, typing away at the computer on his desk.

Patton felt his stomach churn slightly. He couldn't help but be a bit nervous. Everyone was already in their own little groups. These weren't the normal people he'd hang out with. Sure there were a few familiar faces, but he didn't really talk much to any of them. He didn't have many close friends... More so friends by association.

"Alright class settle down." Mr. Conti stood from his chair. His eyes landed on Patton. "Ah, I was told you were coming. Everybody, this is Patton Sanders he'll be joining us for the rest of the year. Just take a seat wherever one is open."

He looked around seeing one seat in the back available and walked over to take it. Usually he'd like to stay in the middle toward the front, but he really didn't have a choice, so he sat.

He looked over and saw the boy He'd run into early next to him.

"Hey." He flashed a friendly smile. "It's you. Sorry again for running into you earlier."

"Don't apologize recurrently. I understand that it was accidental. You were simply in a haste in order to not be late to your academic activities. I understand." He said with little to no emotion.

"Ha yeah..." this guy is a walking thesaurus... Patton thought. He then let his eyes wander down to the notebook in front of the boy, at the name printed on front, Logan. "Well Logan it's nice to meet you. I hope we have a pleasant time sitting next to each other this year." He held out his hand in the other's direction.

Logan looked at it for a second seeming confused. He then put his book down and shook his hand. "Agreed."
