Lynn's POV

"It's a girl," Addison gladly announced, instantly relieving the group of youngsters and they hysterically burst into a rapturous roar.

"Woah, woah. Calm down guys. You don't want to scare the baby, alright?" Addison professionally advised but was blatantly ignored by the exhilarated horde.

"Don't mind them, Addison. How is Jean doing?" I prodded in concern, gazing up at the competent doctor expectantly.

"She's drained, but recovering. You guys can see her now," Addison endorsed courteously.

"But only if you're quiet," Addison warned in a stern tone.

Despite her strict glare towards the childishly disobedient cluster, their rowdy behavior prevailed for sometime until all of them abruptly froze with the silliest ecstatic expressions still plastered to their faces.

"You're not my students anymore and I hate to do this so don't make me. Just listen to Dr. Montgomery, please," Charles ordered in a tone that was obviously frustrated and the teachers were promptly released, nodding furiously.

"Thank you, Professor," Addison conveyed in utter appreciation, bowing dramatically before she spun around.

Swiftly, she shadowed the eager pack who enthusiastically flooded into the room and I turned back towards Charles, disconcerted to notice his face still plagued by that troubled frown. Carefully squeezing his palm, I gazed at him worriedly, watching his head jerk out of a blank trance. A weak smile slithered onto his lips the moment he realized the awkward scene but it was not one convincing enough to fool me.

"Charles, stop thinking about it, please," I whispered pleadingly, gently resting our foreheads together.

"It hurts seeing you like this and I'm not sure how long more I can act like I can take it," I confessed timidly, struggling not to break down in front of him as my brave front rapidly crumbled without others in our presence.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I don't mean to stress you," Charles profusely apologized, hurriedly drawing me into a hug and diligently rubbed my sides, proving to efficiently mollify my jittery trembling.

In recent times, after regular consultation sessions with Karen and significant aid from my library of panic dampening medications, my body had finally reconciled with his tender touch.

It was a slow and arduous journey, learning to enter his arms again, but I embraced every small step that showered me with the impression that I was falling in love with him all over again, and eventually, I achieved the goal I had set, allowing for them to pacify rather than provoke unwanted dread.

"Cheer up, Lynn. I promise you, I'll stop dwelling," Charles affirmed in a sincere tone, smiling genuinely at me and I smiled back, substantially alleviated.

"Let's go in and see her, alright?" He suggested earnestly and I nodded without hesitation.

Manually propelling myself through behind Charles, I spotted Jean and Scott grinning in contentment and almost like the joy was contagious, a wide smile immediately curved onto my face.

Undeniably, it was a delightful sight to witness, in the place where their love first blossomed and where it was sworn to last forever, yet another chapter of their lives smoothly unfolding in the mansion.

From their flirtatious banters to this imperative stage of parenthood, I was certainly not as lucky as the walls of our school to have seen everything through but nevertheless, there was one thing I recognized for sure, and it was that this exceptional couple had just been blessed with the most wondrous gift they totally deserved.
