One day, you're going to meet someone that changes you. Even if that's your best friend, the love of your life, or maybe just a stranger that needs help. I think I've already met the person that has changed my life. Elaine.

She truly knew how to make me open up to her. Not only did I tell her my deepest, darkest secrets, but I also told her about what led me to who I am. I think that my personality will be forever changed because of this girl. I'd like to thank her, but at the same time, I want to literally destroy her happiness like she did mine.

"Hey, so I thought you looked cute over there a couple of minutes ago, so I guess I thought I would come over to talk to you. Plus, my friend Amelie told me that you were looking around for someone to talk to, so I thought I could maybe be your accomplice," a caramel haired stranger mumbled, looking at my eyes for a second and looking back at the ground. She wasn't too cute, but she was unique. She had an original face. I liked that. As soon as she walked up to me, I felt the air around me transform into a whirlwind of happiness. I knew that she liked girls. Amelie told me. There was a hope that she could be the one for me.

"My name is Maisie," I introduced myself to her. Under her curly and unkempt hair, I could see her honey brown eyes peeking back at me. I wanted to stare at them for longer, but every time that I tried, she would look back down at her feet and stick her chubby hands back into her hoodie. I had a feeling that I could get past her barrier. Maybe then she could be exuberant.

"I'm Elaine. You're new to the high school this year, and I heard that you were into... um... girls," she stuttered. She pulled her hands out of her pockets and fiddled with her school ID, which was messily wrapped around her neck with a strand of yarn. I suddenly felt as if all two hundred pairs of eyes in the cafeteria were zoning in on us.

"Yeah. I guess I am. So you're talking to me because Amelie told you that I'm into girls?" I asked her. She bit her bottom lip and thought on it. I had the feeling that she was outweighing the good and the bad until she replied, staring heavily at the ground.

"Um, I am even though that makes me sound shallow and desperate," She smiled and looked back up at me. I was probably a good six inches taller than her, but I didn't mind.

"That's okay. I was actually looking for someone to get to know. You know how hard it is to find a gay girl around here," I chuckled and rubbed the back of my neck. I wasn't sure that I liked her. She had a different feeling around her. She smelled clean too. Was that Downy?

"No, I completely understand. I just got out of a pretty long relationship, so I'm still kind of hurting," she said with a tight, uncomfortable smile. I hadn't been in a long relationship before, but I felt her pain. I'd read all about them. I felt bad for her. I understood what it felt like to be alone.

"That's okay. If you want to actually talk about it, you can," I proposed, eager to hear about her previous relationships. She grimaced after I offered. She shook her head slowly.

"No, I'll pass. It's still too soon," She sighed. I really wanted to hear about her ex, but if she didn't really want to talk about it, I wasn't going to make her. I knew when to stop pushing.

"The bell is about to ring, so I guess I'll talk to you later?" I asked. She nodded and hastily walked off.

When she walked away, I didn't really think of it as the beginning of a volcano eruption that was going to become part of my life. I didn't know that she was going to break my heart so easily. I didn't even consider the possibility that she was just playing with my emotions to see how many people she could get to hate me. All I saw was the cute smile, that loose curl, and those pretty eyes. Those fucking eyes.
