A blinding light shined downward, emitting a painful level of brightness that made my head pulsate and caused a small groan to erupt from my throat.

My eyes slowly opened as I tried to focus in on my surroundings, everything was a blur.
"Rhys?" I heard an echoey voice call out. I tried to catch a sense of what may be going on, or even who that was, or where I was.
"Rhys?" It seemed to call out again "Can you hear me?". The voice was familiar, I knew it all too well. As my vision came into focus I saw the familiar short male, my best friend, Vaughn.

I groaned in response and raised a hand to my temple, feeling at the port that always stuck out. Something was odd. I heard no smart remarks or annoying comments. I heard no Jack.

My eyes darted around to take a better look at my surroundings as I tried to grasp what had happened. I took a look down at my arms to see an iv in my non-robotic arm and my other clearly brand new.
"Woah, woah. Take it easy, bro." Vaughn started, staring with concerned eyes "You were nearly dead when... when we found you. You've been out for a month."

I shook my head, I couldn't believe it. "W-What... What did they do... Why am I here, why can't-" I stopped for a moment amidst my jumble of words to lower my voice. "Vaughn. Why can't I hear Jack?"

Vaughn gave me a solemn look before stepping forward. "Rhys..." He started "I'll explain everything".
