Bertholdt's pov

I was in the stables, moving some hay into them. Reiner was not to far from me brushing the horses with Jean and Marco. I started to him to myself a song that I heard a couple years back. "Bott, Kirschtein, you were both moved to kitchen duty." Squad Leader, Hange, said to Marco and Jean. They nodded as Hange left, they smiled at each other before walk to the kitchen. I rolled my eyes and continued before softly singing to myself, momentarily forgetting that Reiner could hear me. "The sun is hot and that old clock is movin' slow
An' so am I
Work day passes like molasses in wintertime
But it's July
I'm gettin' paid by the hour, an' older by the minute
My boss just pushed me over the limit

I think I'll just call it a day," I smiled a little as I sang, not noticing that Reiner had moved closer to listen to me. "Pour me somethin' tall an' strong
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care

I swayed my hips a little as I sang before I stopped moving and wiped the sweat off my forehead. "Oh, this lunch break is gonna take all afternoon,
An' half the night.
Tomorrow mornin', I know there'll be hell to pay,
Hey, but that's all right.
I ain't had a day off now in over a year-" I sang before being cut off by Reiner clapping. I spun around to see Reiner smiling at me. My face flushed red and I started to look down, embarrassed. "How'd you learn to sing like that?" Reiner asked. I shook my head. "No idea." I replied quietly. We stayed silent for awhile before Reiner spoke. "You have an amazing singing voice, Bertl."

"T-thanks." I smiled timidly. He smiled back at me. "Will you two stop flirting? Dinner's ready!" Yeager yelled at us. Reiner blushed a faint pink while my my face flushed red. We both nodded and started walking side-by-side to the cafeteria. I tried to ignore our hands brushing as we walked. Soon we made it to the cafeteria and got food. As I grabbed my food, I heard Yeager talking about Reiner and me. I looked down before grabbing my food, which consisted of only an apple, a roll, and some meat, and walked briskly past Yeager then out the door. As I walked Reiner called out to me as I walked out, before growling at the boy and grabbing his food then following after me. I sat against the building, setting my food next to me, and put my head in my hands. 'Am I really a giant? Am I really a mess?' I thought to myself. "Bertie? You okay?" I heard Reiner ask me. I looked up at him with teary eyes, clearly upset. He set his food down before squatting down in front of me and hugging me tightly. I hugged him just as tight as a few tears slide down my cheeks. "Shh, shh, you'll be just fine, Bertie. Nothing will happen to you with me around." He muttered into my ear. I just nodded and tried to hide my face into his neck. As tears stream down my face, Reiner rubbed my back before pulling away from me and lifting my chin so that I'd look at him. We both blushed faintly before we kissed.
