Something Wasn't Right
TYRELL.
The past year took some time getting used to. I still expected my pops to appear out of nowhere despite being there when they buried him. I knew I definitely needed to step up. We put the plan into action of what was going to happen come end of the year. I took a back seat with West and ran the accounts for the businesses both legal and illegal.
I never realized there was so much to it. I was glad I decided to take a backseat because now with pops gone, someone needed to take his place. Me behind these scenes made more sense because if you gave Antwan all this he would run the business into the ground.
Him and Maine being the faces of the organisation was perfect. They both had an intimidating look to them.
"I'm going to work Ty." Rochelle said as she kissed me on the forehead and left.
She had managed to get the job as a midwife in the end. She not too long started. She wanted to wait until after Marcus turned one. We were in a good place as a family.
TJ was growing way before his time; he liked to feel he was the man of the house and that his job was to look out for his younger brother and sister. I had raised him that way and he sees how I look out for my siblings. He is taking basketball very serious and unlike me and my siblings I wouldn't introduce him to the drug life. If it's basketball he wants to do then that's what will happen.
Then there was Chelle; she had the attitude of her mother and we all know Rochelle had one hell of an attitude. She has started doing dancing and she's really good at it. We have thought about sending her to a dance academy once she finishes middle school.
Last but not least we have lil Marcus, he just dribbles, laughs and is very mischievous! Especially now that he can walk. Even the nanny Karla is a big help. Rochelle and I get to have one day of the week to ourselves to do what we want; whether it's for the whole day or just a couple hours. I can admit that I am indeed happy, and we as a family are even happier. All we need now is one more; then our family is complete.
Today is JJ's birthday. He's one today so as always we do it big for any child's first birthday. The men got the back yard all set up whilst the women got themselves all dressed up as if it was their birthday except from Tanayah. She was running around like a headless chicken making sure everything was perfect. I don't know why because Maine had everything sorted.
I respected him deeply as he didn't have to accept JJ nor did he have to stay with my sister, but he did. It was a good thing too because I really believe they were meant for each other.
"The balloons are not matching. There are more white than blue; why is there more white balloons?" she asked frustrated.
"Nayah...go upstairs and get ready. Stop fussing over things that don't need to be fussed over." Maine told her.
She pouted then went off to get ready.
"Maaan this is how it's s'posed to be. Us and them. No beef." Twan said.
I nodded. It was nice for a change everyone was getting along. The party was a nice vibe, so many kids running around. It was crazy how just a few years ago the only children were mine and Rochelle's. Now I have nieces and nephews. We sang happy birthday to JJ and then Tan, Maine and JJ cut the cake. It was then I realized Joziah wasn't here. That was very strange as he was around as much as he could be. Every time Nayah said he could have JJ; he would turn up. Now he isn't here for his son's first birthday. Maybe he had second thoughts. Even though JJ is his son you would think he was Maine's.
