I stared at her, eyes wide. I could feel the blood draining from my face. I couldn't believe that a school bully, could be the monster that murdered my parent. Hatred was bubbling inside me. I would get my revenge... That's when I remembered. It was the full moon. The only reason she hadn't turned yet was because the moon was covered. I got up and walked to Professor Holmes who was dancing with Professor Parkinson.
"Sir, there's something important I need to tell you." I said.
"What is it, Phoenix?" He asked, Professor Parkinson leaving to get some food.
"You know Alexa, Alexa Plaine?"
"Yes, of course." He replied.
"Umm... When that werewolf attacked me last year, I bit it on the arm twice, injuries inflicted by werewolves scar permanently right?"
"Yes..."
"Well Alexa has bite mark scars in the same place and they weren't there before." I explained. "It's a full moon." I added. Looking back at Alexa, I saw her staring at me. She seemed to be examining me. Her eyes widened when she spotted my scars. I looked outside. The moon was still covered by clouds.
"Are you sure it's not just a coincidence?" He inquired.
"Please sir," I pleaded "At least take Alexa outside so she doesn't transform in here where she could potentially kill everyone." I said, helplessly. Suddenly, the moon peered out from behind the cloud.I ran back, almost falling over in my heels. Alexa began to shake.
"Sonorus." Professor Holmes said, holding his wand on his neck. The spell acted like a megaphone, making his voice loud so everyone could hear. "The ball is now over, please return to your dormitories." He announced. People were confused. Everybody bustled towards the doors to leave. I held onto Alexa's arm.
"What are you doing?!" She growled.
"I know who you are. I know what you did. I won't let you kill anybody else, got it?!" I hissed, tightening my grip. She began to convulse, twitching, shaking uncontrollably. Her face was lengthening, her hands were turning into paws. It was a sickening sight. I let go of her. I had never seen someone else transform into a werewolf. Alexa screamed, clawing at her head. Screams became whines and soon she was a wolf. Brendon, Sam and Remus had backed into a corner, shielding Katie and Ava. It was only us, Professor Holmes and Alexa in the great hall now. Silently creeping over to where Remus and the others were, I took Katie's hand, leading her past. I put my finger to my lips. I could tell she was terrified, but she couldn't make a sound. Remus, Brendon, Sam and Ava followed, quietly. I pushed them out of the hall.
"Quietus." Professor Holmes said, reversing the spell. The werewolf turned and looked at us. He stepped in front of me. I ran back to the door, holding it open for him. He turned his wand on the wolf and backed away, towards us. He ran through the doorway and we slammed it shut. Thunderous footsteps sounded from inside. She was charging.
"Colloportus!" I cried, waving my wand at the door. It locked and Alexa slammed into it with a loud crash. Everyone sighed."Now what do we do? There's a werewolf in the great hall." Brendon breathed.
"Not any werewolf. She's the werewolf who killed Mum and Dad." I whispered.
"She what. Are you seriously saying an 11 year old killed our parents? That isn't something to joke about." He spat.
"I'm not joking. I could tell. The eyes. They were just so familiar." I said, calmly. "Don't tell me you've never seen something when you looked at her, but just couldn't place it."
"That's really specific. But yes, I have felt like that before."
"Exactly. I don't know whether she meant to or not but she did it. She killed our parents and she will pay for it." I growled.
"Nobody's paying for anything." Professor Holmes said, listening into our conversation. "You may think she is the one who killed your parents, but you don't know. As of yet we cannot do anything on the matter.""I do know!" I hissed. Professor Holmes shook his head. He began to walk away. "Now, you six should go to your dormitories." He said, before walking round a corner.
We got back to our dorm and I got changed into my night dress and a fluffy dressing gown before sneaking back down to the common room. I glared into the fire.
"You're looking pretty murderous." A voice said behind me. I jumped. It was Remus.
"Merlin's beard Remus, you terrified me. Please don't come anywhere near me, I'm in the 'I will literally murder you if you get too close' mood right now." I muttered. He laughed and sat down next to me, ignoring what I'd said.
"Why are you so angry?" He asked. Nobody else apart from Holmes had hear our discussion earlier.
"I think Alexa is the wolf who killed my parents." I explained.
"What?"
"She has the same scars as the wolf that attacked you, she has the same eyes. The eyes are what really give it away. So cold." I shuddered.
"How can you be sure?"
"I'm fed up of people asking me that! I know what I saw. I can never get those memories out of my head! Do you know what that feels like? It's slowly driving me insane Remus and I ju-" I cried, Remus interrupted me with a tight hug. I threw my arms around his neck, sobbing. I let go and stepped away from him. "I'm sorry Remus. I'm crying and throwing tantrums like a little kid." I mumbled, wiping the tears from my face. Sitting back down, I gazed into the fire. "But she will pay for what she's done. She killed Mum. She killed Dad. She killed Aurelia. I bet you she killed that muggle as well. I will get my revenge." I growled, glaring once more into the fire.
"I'm sure your parents wouldn't want you to kill Alexa." He said, catching on to what I meant. I looked at him.
"She means to kill me. You. Everyone who doesn't share her beliefs." I hissed, turning away from him. I stared at the wall, trying to ignore him.
"Hey." Remus whispered. "Look at me." He turned my face towards his and kissed me. I couldn't fight. I couldn't resist. I stroked his hair and caressed his cheek, tracing the lines of the scars he had gotten in his first year.
"You're right. Maybe I'm the monster." I whispered into the kiss.
"Yeah. You're my monster." Remus smiled. I leant forward. My heart was racing. Thoughts rushing through my mind. So many emotions. Too many emotions. I leaned further into the kiss. Remus fell onto his back. I fell on top of him. I blushed furiously. Pushing ourselves up, we laughed.
"I love you Remus." I whispered.
"I love you too." He said, laying down, holding me in a tight embrace. I could hear his heart beat. My head was leant on his chest, rising and falling as he breathed. He buried his face in my hair. We fell asleep.
