They decide to have a small campfire that night. He clears a small area of the grasses and uses those for the fire. He grabs a lighter from his truck and in a few seconds, they have a fire. She sits down in front of it and pulls her knees to her chest with her arms around her knees. "Too bad we don't have any marshmallows," she muses.

He smiles to himself and stands up. He opens the back door to the truck and pulls out a couple of his sweatshirts, as well as a bag of marshmallows. Despite the burning heat during the day, nights can get chilly. He figured that she wouldn't bring a sweatshirt, so he brought one for her. He knows she loves his sweatshirts, and he doesn't mind sharing as long as it's with her.

He hands her a hoodie and she takes it gratefully. She puts it over her head, enjoying how it smells like his cologne. It's way too big on her, but that makes it even better. The sleeves go past her fingertips and the bottom nearly reaches her knees, but it's warm and soft and comforting. He pulls his over his head too and sits down near her. She moves so she's sitting right next to him and he gives her a knowing smile. "What?"

"Did someone say marshmallows?"

"I didn't bring any," she replies, a small frown forming on her lips.

"That's okay, because I did." He pulls them out, along with chocolate and graham crackers. "I thought we could make s'mores."

She's instantly happy. She takes the marshmallows and pops one into her mouth. He also pulls out a couple of roasting sticks, puts a marshmallow on each one, then hands one to her. He holds his over the fire until it's golden on the outside and gooey on the inside. She looks over at him as he makes his s'more, and when she turns back to hers, it's on fire. He can't help the laughter that bubbles out of his chest, making her cheeks flush and give him a sheepish look.

She quickly blows out the flames from her marshmallow and then looks at it sadly. What a waste of a good marshmallow. Who likes burnt marshmallows?

Corbin makes his s'more, layering a thick piece of chocolate over the marshmallow before squashing it between two graham crackers. He takes her marshmallow from her and hands her the s'more he made. She tries to take hers back, not wanting him to eat the burnt mess, but he puts in his mouth before she can get to it. She sighs and takes the one that he handed her.

It's one of the best s'mores she's ever had, she concludes. Whenever she makes them, the marshmallow always burns or isn't roasted long enough. Hers are never this perfect. "Why would you eat my burned marshmallow?" She asks. "The burned ones never taste good."

"Well, I think it was perfect," he says, making her heart flutter. She knows it's silly, something that small, but she doesn't really care.

"But it was-"

He cuts her off by pressing his lips against hers. She's pleasantly shocked, but she responds. She kisses him back and wraps her arms around his neck. He pushes her backwards and hovers over her. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that," he murmurs, kissing her sweetly again. Then he pulls away and leans on his forearms. "Look, I know you just got out of a relationship, and you probably aren't ready for a new one-"

She cuts him off by pulling him back down. "Shut up," she whispers. "Don't talk about that." She ghosts her lips over his, teasing him, and he thinks his heart might explode. He's overjoyed that she's kissing him back. He can't believe it's happening, honestly. He was sure that she would find someone better than him.

The marshmallows are now forgotten, but he can still taste them on her lips. He can taste the chocolate and the crackers too, and it drives him wild. She's so sweet and he can't get enough of it.

She kisses him back until she needs to breathe, feeling her breath grow harsher with each touch. His lips are soft and she can taste her marshmallow. "You're right," she whispers. "The burnt marshmallow was perfect."

He chuckles softly. "I told you."
