Montgomery's POV
I don't know which room sucked more. Jeff was terrified of me since I attacked him, and the silence in his room was deafening. Eliza's room was awful. The beep of the machines constantly sounded. They were waiting to be turned off.
Luke hadn't left her room since the accident. They originally thought she'd be fine, but there was a complication in the surgery. It'd been days and she hadn't woken up. They say she's brain dead.
Jeff had told us (and the police) about the stop sign being down. He managed to slow down when he saw Eliza but not enough to avoid hitting her. He's going to be fine.
Her dad has to decide when to turn off the machines. I don't think he ever should. She could wake up at any moment. Right?
