Ch 4: Into the Shadow Realm
(Y/N) POV
Once again I was in the void of my nightmares, just like every other night. Something was different this time though. My eyes were shut and I was in a chair it seems, my legs hanging off from the side, the ledge being cold. My head was against something warm...
Solid...
Muscular...
By the time I had realize what I was lying against, Yami's wings engulfed me and kept me prisoner. I was finally able to open my eyes and glared at him. He only gave me his hungry grin.
"Nice to see you've finally awaken, beautiful. You were sleeping for quite some time,"
"You! What did you do to me?!"
"You wound me love! I would never defile you in your sleep. I'd much prefer you awake and screaming my name. I did enjoy you sleeping cuddled up to my chest. It was quite adorable," I growled.
"Bastard! You prevented me from entering the scape in order to feed your twisted desires by seeing me in a vulnerable state!" He chuckled.
"Perhaps. But your body seemed to enjoy since it kept cuddling closer,"
"I was unconscious and probably just looking for warmth,"
He buried his face into my neck, his warm breath causing me to involuntary shiver, causing him to chuckle.
"Your body is so much more honest with me,"
"It's only your aura doing this!"
"I know when you're lying (Y/N), you love me just as I love you,"
"You can't love! You're only interested in my body and reserve Magic!"
He took my face into his hands and forced me to look into his eyes. He looked...hurt.
"I'm not that shallow (Y/N), while those things are bonuses for me, I love you for different reasons,"
"How would you even know those things!? We didn't meet before the day in the ruins!" He began nibbling.
"For another time, my dear," he lightly kissed my lips before I felt the familiar lightness, and then darkness. I bolted up from my sleep, my heart pounding like a drum.
Why did he target me for my personality?
No matter, I had to hurry with the potion. I was running out of time!
Yugi POV
We all decided to meet (Y/N) back at the museum after school the next day. We walked in, finding the sleepy eyed professor sorting through a vast array of neon colored liquids. Joey greeted her first.
"Sup professor!" She jumped and turned to us before sighing in relief.
"You scared me! Glad to see you're all here," Tea checked her eyes, also noticing the dark bags.
"Have you been sleeping enough (Y/N)?"
"Since Incubi are dream walkers and my 'mate' can't seem to take a hint, I have not had a good night's sleep in a while," I winced.
"That's harsh,"
"Yes but we're here to put an end to it! By the way, how did your test go?"
"It was great! We all got good grades!" Tristian snickered.
"Even Joey got a B+,"
"Shut it!" She giggled.
"I'm glad. Now, before we begin, I implore you to think carefully. This is your last chance to leave this to me. This is the point of no return," The 4 of us looked to each other and nodded.
"We won't let you do this alone!" Tea assured. (Y/N) smiled.
"I thank you all then. Very well, follow me!" She grabbed the vials of liquid and led us into the Egyptian section of the museum. She stopped in front of a large slab of black stone littered with hieroglyphics.
"This is our way into the Shadow Realm,"
"Um teach, that's just a hunk of rock!"
"Things aren't always as they seem Joey. Put these on!" She threw us glasses of different colors and sizes. Mine were purple. Putting them on, I was shocked to find a red spiral vortex at the center of the stone.
"What is that!?" Tristan screamed.
"Our way in. The original members of the order hid portals around the world in order to gather ingredients for potions and studying demons in their natural home. We will be using it for the former,"
"Isn't it counterproductive going into your chaser's dimension?" Tea retorted.
"In normal circumstances yes, but since we are dealing with a very powerful incubus, there are no alternatives. It is also what these potions are for. Everyone drink up! And fair warning, these things do not taste pleasant,"
We each took a vial and gulped it down, the next moment doubling over trying not to vomit. It tasted like medicine and spoiled milk. (Y/N) seemed to be the only one unaffected. She began pushing us towards the portal.
"Alright! No time to waste!" With a powerful push, we tumbled into the vortex. For a solid minute there was nothing but reds and blacks swirling about until the pain of my face making contact with solid ground dragged me back to reality. Unfortunately, I was also on the bottom of the pile as well. I heard a cough. Through the tangle mess of limbs, I could barely make out (Y/N)'s form.
"Ok, who's alive? Sound off," We all groaned, eventually the others getting off me. I reeled back at (Y/N)'s appearance.
Her hair now had a shine to it and was flowing freely, her (E/C) eyes were now cat like, down to the slits and had a reddish tint. She had sharper fangs and claws. On her back were a pair of wings with the same pattern as her cloak. I even saw a thin black tail moving behind her. Luckily, her clothes seemed to remain normal.
"Boys, quit staring!" Tea scolded as we looked away.
I looked to the others and they too had change. Tea's skin and hair now were shaded blue and purple with her hands webbed, while also having what looked like fins replacing her ears. Joey now had long fangs and claws, a scorpion tail, bat wings much like (Y/N), and what looked to be a mane sticking out all over the place on his head. Tristan was by far the funniest: his legs had turned into goat legs and on his head were curled horns. Finally there was me. There weren't any major changes: I could feel fangs in my mouth and claws on my hands. The biggest changes were two fox tails and and ears now on my body.
"Ok everyone, take a minute to get aquatinted with your new form,"
"What the hell happened to us teach!?" Joey screamed.
"Oh, the potions we took disguise us so we can freely move around in this world without being discovered,"
"Oh..." we responded. Tristan pounded his fe..hooves on the ground.
"So what am I exactly?"
"Right so you are a Satyr Tristan. Joey is a manticore. Tea, you are a water nymph. And finally Yugi is a kitsune,"
"I thought kitsunes had nine tails,"
"Only for those who live to be 100 Yugi,"
"And what about you (Y/N)?" Tea asked.
"I am, unfortunately, a succubus. I don't know why and I will hurt the first person to crack a joke," we nodded in understanding.
"So what's the plan?"
"Glad you asked Tristan! We'll head into the village and start gathering up ingredients for the warding potion," We stared at her for a minute.
"Um, village?" I asked in surprise. She then slapped her forehead.
"Gods! I knew I forgot something! Ok so, this dimension mirrors our own, so the monsters live in a society like our own, though it's more magic and medieval base and they have a one king ruling over everything,"
"Your stalker,"
"Exactly Joey. So, as long as we try to fit in, we should be fine," Tea gave her a skeptical look.
"Have been here before (Y/N)?"
"Of course! It's part of training in order to join the order. It's also why I'm quite used to the potion's...particular taste," I sighed in relief.
"Thank heavens! I thought we were walking in blind!"
"I'd never put any of you at risk. Now follow me," Quick as a flash, her wings opened up and she took to the air and landed somewhere else. It was then I noticed something else:
The lands were nothing more than islands floating in a void.
