*The timeless Mahatma Gandhi : A chapter in time*
Barefoot Gandhi walked across the stinging, sinking, raging sand,
390 km on the Dandi March, tirelessly and continuously,
To protest the salt tax, with only a stick and salt in his hand.
Many protesters joined on the way the 78 who had started on his trail,
Believing in his testimony of truth and non violence,
For which he had suffered agonizing days in English jail.
His goal was only one, to bring liberty to his mother land,
Barefoot he walked across the stinging, sinking, raging sand
390 km on the Dandi March, tirelessly and continuously,
With only a stick and salt in his hand.
Soon came footsteps of British soldiers marching forward,
Marking their agendas with violence, the only thing they knew and favored.
With misplaced pride in their mind, to conquer everything in their path,
The ones who didn’t surrender were recipients of wrath.
Sticks and stones could break the protesters’ bones but their spirit could
not touch,
It shook the foundations of the British Empire the Dandi March was such.
The world today needs desperately a leader like Gandhi, who we can follow
behind,
Yet, his soul and teachings are timeless and one of their kind.
He proved to the world that the victory of a guide is in practicing what
you preach.
This can give life to people of clay and bring even freedom within reach.!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mahatma Gandhi is and always be my inspiration, my morals are based on his preachings and he can't ever be forgotten.
