Feathertail dug her claws into the stalactite above Sharptooth. She felt it tremble as her weight dislodged it.

She closed her eyes tight as it plummeted. Each breathe felt like a minute.

1...
Feathertail thought about Crowpaw, how this was the only way to save him.

2...
No, in this action she was saving the Tribe, her friends.

3...
Her words to Stormfur rang in her mind. "I can hear the voices clearly now. This is for me to do."

4...
Feathertail wondered if those would be her last words overall.

Then the impact came. It stunned Feathertail like a deer in headlights. It hurt, but at the same time it didn't. Her whole body felt numb but her muscles screamed.

Feathertail realized she had been flung off the rock spike and that it had inland the Sharptooth. She sank to the ground, knowing her job had been done.

She laid on the cold stone motionlessly. She was faintly aware of Stormfur sliding down the rock to hook her side. "Feathertail?" He asked softly.

Crowpaw joined him. "Feathertail?" There was a hint of a plead in his voice. "Feathertail, are you okay?"

Her eyes were closed, she could not open them. She couldn't see but pawsteps thudded around her as the entire tribe created a loose circle around her.

'I hope I saved them,' she thought. 'I hope what I did was worth it.' She knew she wasn't going to make it through this.

Feathertail slipped in and out of consciousness. She caught hints of words as she did.

"She'll be fine." That was Crowpaw. "She's got to be. She..she has a prophecy to fulfill." Feathertail slipped away for a millisecond again and she she was back Crowpaw was against her body. She felt strange but was unable to move. "Wake up, Feathertail. Please wake up." Crowpaw said again. Again, she was unable to move.

Feathertail feebly opened her eyes. Crowpaw and Stormfur looked down at her. She spoke in a soft voice, a hardly audible whisper. "You'll have to go home without me brother." Her voice cracked. "Save the Clan."

Then Feathertail focused her gaze on Crowpaw. "Think you have nine lives, do you? I saved you once..don't make me save you again."

"Feathertail..Feathertail no! Don't leave me." Crowpaw crouched down, tears streaming from his eyes.

"I won't," Feathertail coughed out. "I'll always be with you, I promise." Feathertail felt herself fall out of consciousness again.

When she woke up she was still in the cave. Crowpaw was next to her body. Nobody looked at her, the real her, but they looked at her dead body. It took a moment for the realization to sink in. She had joined StarClan.

Or..had she? This looked nothing like StarClan hunting grounds. This was simply a cave.

Panic started to swell in her chest. Was she too far away from the clans to join her ancestors. "Hello?" She called out. "Hello?"

A soft tail landed on Feathertail's shoulder. She turned to see us was Silverstream. 'Mother,' she thought. "Where am I?" Feathertail asked.

"You're safe." Was Silverstreams response. Feathertail noted how she avoided saying where.

"Am I in StarClan?" Feathertail asked her mother. Silverstream nodded. "Where..where is everybody else?"

"They're at the heart of StarClans hunting grounds." Silverstream explained. "Right now..I guess I would say we're in the real world."

Feathertail stayed quiet for a minute. She didn't ask about what Silverstream had just said. Instead she cast a glance at Crowpaw. "Wh-what about him. I promised him I wouldn't leave him."

Pain flashes in Silverstream eyes for a minute. "You can stay.." she said slowly.

"Yes, yes I want to stay." Feathertail pleaded.

"But if you stay," Silverstream continued. "You will not have a place. StarClan is a far way from here."

A new voice entered the conversation. "She will always have a place with us ,"said a she-cat. "I am the Tribe's first Stoneteller." The Stoneteller turned to Feathertail. "We will gladly let you join the ranks of the Tribe of Endless Hunting. You have saved the Tribe and nothing I can do can show my full thanks for that."

Silverstream looked at Feathertail. Her eyes portrayed she didn't want to leave her daughter but her voice didn't show that. She dipped her head. "Go, Feathertail. StarClan will always welcome you."

With a lump in her throat, Feathertail turned to the first Stoneteller. "I will join the Tribe of Endless Hunting."

"Welcome."
