screams filling my lungs
as my body shakes
and tears start spilling from my eyes

the demons are back
and they haunt my dreams
turning them into cold, bitter nightmares

but i'm okay
because i know
when i'm brought back to reality
you will be there

i know you will be there
to sing me back to sleep
that you will hold me
and rock me when my mind
begins to panic

but you aren't
your body is no longer in the sheets next to me
your warmth is gone and all i can feel
are chills running through me
