Linda's phone was ringing - it was Jason's parents. They told Linda that the police wouldn't take action until a person had been missing for twenty-four hours.
I thought it was strange, that. They should have been more concerned - much more concerned. How can it be that someone goes missing, but no one with any authority cares?
Jason's parents seemed upset, but reluctant to do anything except sit around and mope. The police didn't want to take up the case. The only people actually willing to do something were a bunch of lost and tired teenagers.
Poor them.
