I'm at my desk writing to Yao, who is in China.
My dearest, Yao
Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow creeps in this petty pace from day to day
I trust you'll understand the reference to another Scottish tragedy without my having to name the play
They think me Macbeth, and ambition is my folly
I'm a polymath, a pain in the ass, a massive pain
Arthur is Banquo, Alfred's Macduff
And Ivan Braginski is Congress on its way to Dunsinane
And there you are an ocean away (A/N: I know it's not an ocean away, but pretend it is for the sake of the song)
I can hear Yao's voice
Do you have to live an ocean away?
Thoughts of you subside
Then I get another letter and I cannot put the notion away
"Take a break" my husband Kiku tells me "I am on my way" I tell him. "There's a little surprise before supper and it cannot wait" "I'll be there in just a minute, save my plate" I tell him "(Y/F/N)" he tells me in a monotone voice "ok ok" I go downstairs with him "Your son is 9 years old today, he has something he'd like to say" I see my 9 year old son (Y/S/N). "He has been practicing all day, (Y/S/N), take it away" "Mommy mommy look! My name is (Y/S/N). I am a poet. I wrote this poem just to show it. And I just turned 9. You can write rhymes, but you can't write mine" "What?!" I asked surprised. "I practice French and play piano with my father" "Uh-huh" I say to him excited. "I have a sister, but I want a little brother" I laughed "Okay" "My mommy's has a great job. Un deux trois quarte cinq!" "Bravo!" I say hugging my son. "Take a Break" Kiku tells me. "Hey, our kid is pretty great" I tell him, and (Y/S/N) has a big grin on his face. "Run away with us for the summer, lets go upstate" I respond with a sigh "Kiku, I've got so much on my plate" "We can go stay with my family, there's a lake I know" "I know" "In a nearby park" "I'd love to go" "You and I can go when the night gets dark" I kissed his cheek with a smile "I will try to get away"

(Yao's POV)
I write to (Y/F/N).
My dearest (Y/F/N)
You must get through to Alfred
Sit down with him and compromise
Don't stop 'till you agree
Your favorite older brother Yao,
Reminds you
There's someone in your corner all the way across the sea
I look at the letter I got from (Y/F/N) with a light blush.
The letter I received from you 2 weeks ago
I noticed a comma in a middle of a phrase
It changed the meaning
Did you intend this?
One stroke and you've consumed my waking days
It says 'My dearest, Yao'
With a comma after 'dearest'
You've written
'My dearest, Yao'
I felt my face heating up. I shook my head out of it
Anyway, all this to say,
I'm coming home this summer
At my brother's invitation
I'll be there with your family if you make your way upstate
I know you're busy
I know your work's important
But I'm crossing the ocean
And I just can't wait
You won't be an ocean away
You'll only be a moment away
I was at the front door, I opened it quietly to surprise Kiku. "(Y/F/N), come downstairs, Yao's arriving today" I hugged him from behind, he turned to me "Yao!" "Kiku!" I saw (Y/F/N) come downstairs, and just giggled at us "(Y/F/N)!" I said hugging her. "Hi." "It's good to see your face" "Yao tell this girl, Alfred spends the summer with his family" (A/N: aka the states) "Yao, tell my husband, Alfred doesn't have a real job anyway" (A/N: only reason I made Alfred as John Adams too lol) I realized what she meant. "You're not joining us? Wait" she replied with a sigh "I'm afraid I cannot join you upstate" "(Y/F/N), I came all this way" "He came all this way" "All this way" we both tell (Y/F/N) "Take a Break!" "You know I have to get this plan through congress" she told us. "Run away with is for the summer, lets go upstate" we insisted. "I lose my job if we don't get this plan through congress" she tried to convince us. "There's a lake I know" "I know I'll miss your face" "In a nearby park" "Screw your courage to the sticking place" I tell her. "You and I can go" "Kiku's right-" "Take a break!" "And get away" "Run away with us for the summer-" "Lets go upstate!" "Where we can stay" "We can all go stay with our family, if you take your time" "Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now" "You will make your mark-" "We can go-" "Close your eyes and dream-" "When the night gets dark" we couldn't convince her no matter how hard we tried "Take a Break" she said to us as she went upstairs, "I have to get the Plan through congress, I can't stop until I get this plan through congress" Kiku looked really sad that (Y/F/N) wasn't going with us. I hugged Kiku assuring that she will be fine, however, I had a bad feeling about leaving (Y/F/N) as we went upstate
