A young half monster, half human is sleeping in the back of a pickup truck. The child lets out a small groan before a shadowy figure approaches them and shakes them awake. "Chara!" The figure exclaims excitedly. The child gasps. "Paperjam! Is it morning already?" They ask. "Its midnight! Happy birthday, Chara!" Paperjam exclaims. The young hybrid grabs their cheeks, then sits up and grabs Paperjam's cheekbones. "Oh man! Are you finally gonna tell me that you're a fushion of the monsters, Ink and Error like you promised?" Chara asks excitedly. "You already know about all that, kid." The fushion says with a small laugh. Chara sighs and lets go of Paperjam. "It's true." They say as they fall back into bed. "But what you don't know is how Ink and Error first met." The fushion with a smug look on his skull. Chara sits back up and grabs Paperjam's cheekbones again with stars in their eyes. "Oh my gosh! I don't!" The fushion lets out a laugh.

-Wooshy woosh flashback-

The Earth, 5,750 years ago; it was a promising site of a new monster colony, but progress was being thwarted by a small, persistent group of rebels. A team of diplomatic monsters were sent from HomeWorld to investigate. Among those monsters was Ink, an artistic skeleton with the rare power to see into the future. Assigned to him were three Glitch Skeletons, common soldiers, with a mission to protect him. A Glitch with a glitch covering an eye socket spoke. "Hey! Can't wait for those rebels to get here!" He exclaimed. A Glitch with his soul replacing an eye light replied. "Haha, yeah! When I see those unfresh brosephs, I'm gonna funking punch them right in their unfresh faces!" The first Glitch narrowed his eye sockets. "What are you sayin'? I'm gonna punch them all over their bodies, and then it'll be over." The second Glitch rolled his eye lights. "What if I just punch you!" He punched the first Glitch in the back of his shoulder as he yelped out in pain and stuck his tongue out. The third Glitch with errors surrounding him shook his head at incompetence of his teammates. "Oh, come on. We'll punch 'em together when we fuse. That's why they sent, uh, three of us?" The first Glitch responded with a, "Three this!" He attempted to punch the error ridden one, nicknamed, well, Error, but he blocked it. Error was knocked backwards, causing him to back into the artist, Ink. Onlooking monsters gasped. "Oh, I, um, I'm so sorry, I, let me, uh..." Error stuttered. "I'm fine." Ink said calmly. "What?" Error had said, not sure he had heard the artist correctly. "It's okay. It was bound to happen." The aristocratic monster stated. "I, uh... Okay." Error said. "Now please wait here. I must attend to my duties." The Glitches nodded. "Right." They said in unison. Ink left his guards behind and approached The Creator's palanquin. You see, Ink had been called to Earth by The Creator, specifically to share his vision of the future. Ink entered the palaquin. "My Creator, I have arrived." He said. "Ink, tell me what will happen here." The mysterious giant spoke in an elegant tone. "I foresee the rebels attacking the Cloud Arena. Before they are cornered, they will dust the physical forms of seven monsters, including two of my Glitch guards, and myself. Immediately after my form is destroyed, the rebels will be captured. The rebellion ends here." Ink said with confidence. "Thank you, Ink." The Creator said, relieved. "That is all I need to know." With that, Ink was dismissed."I look forward to speaking with you again once my soul reforms back on Homeworld." Ink gave a bow to The Creator before he returned to his guards. Ink knew he would be a casualty, but it did not faze him. He saw his whole life laid out before him, and he had already accepted all of it. "What a beautiful place to build a colony. I wish I could have seen more of this planet." Ink said to no one in particular. "Uh... there's still time." Error said, having heard the artist. "That is a nice thought, but... no." Ink said, knowing time was up. Suddenly, a male yelled something. "Creator! Leave this planet! This colony will not be completed!" "It's the unfresh rebels!" The soul-eyed Glitch exclaimed. Various monsters mutter among themselves. One monster could be heard shouting, "Who are you!? Show yourselves!" A skeletal male wearing a strange crown and wielding a golden stick with stars on the ends, and a male with blue stars in his eyes appeared. "We are the Star Sanses!" They exclaimed in unison. The Palanquin carrying The Creator and their most trusted servants closed, sprouted mechanical legs, and walked off. The attack was right on schedule. The crown wearer used his staff to defeat four other monsters before Error and his fellow guards intervened and fused into a much bigger Glitch. The Glitch fusion charged after starry eyed skeleton, but he counter-attacks, instantly defusing the Glitch fusion. The crown wearer then jumped in and destroyed the forms of the two other Glitch Guards, leaving just Error. He then prepared to strike Ink. "Thank you, Error. You did your best." He said with a soft smile. Error suddenly realized what Ink meant. He had known that Error would fail. Ink had accepted it. But Error... Error could not. "NO!!" He yelled. He charged at Ink, pushing him out of the way of the crown wearer's attack. As the two of them spun in the air, they fused into Paperjam for the first time. "Wha..." The raw fushion examined their newly formed body. "What...!?" Onlooking monsters gasped, horrified. They muttered among themselves. "What... What is this?" The crown wearer, amazed, looked on, but shook it off and prepared to attack. He was stopped by the starry eyed skeleton. "Wait! This is... Hm?" The other monsters noticed him and began to approach, ignoring Paperjam. "...Let's go." The crown wearer nodded. "Uh... Bye!" He exclaimed to the crowd before the two rebels jump away. "Is this...?" Suddenly, Paperjam unfuses into Ink and Error. The furious crowd closed in around the two. They'd never seen fusion of two different classes of monsters. Various monsters began to shout rude things at the two. The Creator's voice cut through the crowd. "The rebels have fled. Ink, this was not the scenario you described!" The exclaimed. "This is... not what I saw! I don't know what happened, I..." The confused artist trailed off. "No! It was me!" Error said, protecting ink. "Clearly. How dare you fuse with a member of my court!" The Creator yelled. "Forgive me, I-" The Glitch guard was cut off. "Your soul shall be shattered for this!" The crowd of monsters began to close in on them, but Ink grabbed Error's hand and dashed off with him. "Waaaiiit!! What are you doooiiing!? Nooo!!" Error protested. The two of them disappeared into the clouds. Error and Ink landed at the base of a mountain, where it was raining heavily. "Ugh, why'd you do that!? I have to get you back up there!" Error yelled. "They were gonna shatter your soul." Ink said. "Who cares!? There's tons of me!" The Glitch exclaimed. Error looked up at the rain and the area around the mountain. He groaned in panic. "Gahh! What do we do now!?" He yelled into the nothingness. Ink had known every moment of his life. How it would happen, and when. But because of Error's impulsive gesture, he suddenly jumped the track of fate and everything from that instant on was wrong and new. He couldn't see. He couldn't move. He was frozen. Ice began to form around him. "Ah! We have to get you.. out of here!" The Glitch exclaimed. Error stood behind Ink, grabbed him, and pulled him out of the ice. Error, carrying the artist, looked back for a moment. "Come on." He mumbled under his breath. Error carried Ink away from the mountain and into a nearby cave. Error set him down there and examined the area. "Alright, this should be good for now." He mumbled. Ink sat down and rolled up his sleeves, revealing intricate tattoos. "Thank you..." He said. Error looked at him, stunned speechless. Fire started forming around his feet. He stomped out of the flames, startled. They made a fire and the two warmed up beside it, but Error kept pacing. "What kind of Glitch am I supposed to be? Look at this! It's my fault you're stranded here. How am I gonna save you?" Error panicked. "You already did." Ink said. "What!?" The confused guard exclaimed. "You already saved me." Ink said again. Error sniffled and sat down next to the fire, still perturbed. The two remained silent for a moment, thinking about the fusion they performed. Error stared at his hands and Ink's tattoos for a while. "I... I've seen monsters fuse before, but I had no idea that's what it felt like. I always thought... I never realized that fusion... that'd you'd disappear like that." Ink said, trying to make conversation. "It's never like that! Whenever I've fused, it's always just been me, but bigger, I... I've never been... Goopy before." Error said. "I've never more than white! It was nice." Ink said with a small grin. Error blushed a light yellow. "Ha... Yeah..." He returned the smile. Ink and Error later leave the cave, as the sun is coming up and it is no longer raining.
(Just imagine it's them, 'kay?)

They fused into Paperjam once more. Not used to this form, Paperjam stumbled about. He was back; he was someone and he didn't know who. But he felt he was getting the hang of his strange new form. ... And then he fell. Paperjam tripped and rolled down a hill. "... Ouch." Was all he had to say to that. Suddenly, a staff was pointed at Paperjam's face. He recoiled back towards the hill. "Ah! Don't hurt him! Don't hurt... me?" He said, slightly confused. Then, Paperjam realized something. The sword bearer was a rebel, the crown wearer. "It's you! The fushion..." He said. "We didn't mean to fuse! Well... well, we did this time. We'll unfuse! We, we'll..." Paperjam stuttered. Another monster approached the group. "No, no, please... I'm glad to see you again. Dream, put down your staff!" The starry eyed skeleton hissed. And there they were: Blueberry, the leader of the rebellion, and his terrifying renegade daydream, Dream. "I don't upset you?" The confused fushion asked. "Who cares about how I feel? How you feel is bound to be much more interesting." Blueberry said. "How I feel? I feel... uh, lost... and scared... and happy. W-why am I so sure that I'd rather be this than everything I was supposed to be, and that I'd rather do this than anything I was supposed to do?" Paperjam asked, scared. Blueberry let out a laugh. "Welcome to Earth." He said. "C-can you tell me!? How was Error able to alter fate? Or, why was Ink willing to give up everything? W-what am I!?" Paperjam asked, desperate to know. "No more questions. Don't ever question this." Blueberry holds Paperjam's hand. "You already are the answer."

-Back to real time-

"So...? What was it?" Chara asks. Paperjam raises a brow arch. "The answer." They clarifies. "Love." He whisper. "Wow... I knew it." They say with a smile. "So did I."
