*Flashback*

"Daddy, does Uncle Merle have to come with us?"

He chuckled softly before answering, "I know he can be an annoyin' son bitch but he's still my brother sweetness." Great! The old, "he's still my brother" bit. I sass to myself as I let out an annoyed sigh, and walk back into the house to get my crossbow.

"Where the hell is this stupid piece of shit?" I ask aloud as I look around for my room, meanwhile out the window I overhear my daddy arguing with someone.

"You got some nerve callin' her that!"

"What'd you expect me to say? She got a mouth on her just like her mother!" Merle. "I don't even know why you even kept the kid, if it was me I would a just left her there-". He sentence was cut short at the sound of a fist hitting skin, hard. The sound continues as various grunts and cruses get throw in. Shit. I finally find my bow under my bed, and run outside to found my daddy laying on the ground; blood all over his face, and Merle nowhere in sight. Tears fill my eyes and start rolling down my checks as I walk over and shake my daddy, trying to bring him back to consciousness.

"Daddy? Daddy you have to get up. Come on now. Daddy!" I cry as I shake him more violently, his eyes start to flutter open and I see him smirking up at me. "You nearly scared me half to death!" I say smiling as more tears roll down my checks. "Come on let's get your ass cleaned up."

"Hey. No cussin'

"Shut up." I laugh, rolling my eyes at him. Just as I stand I felt a sharp, unbearable pain in the back of my head as I dropped to the ground. Everything was going in slow motion: me falling to the ground, my daddy punching Merle, my daddy hovering over me. After that, everything went black and cold.

*End of flashback*

As I open my eyes; for what seems to be the first time in forever. My vision is blurry and all I see is white. White walls, white bed, white gown, even my skin looks white. Lord I must be in a hospital. I think to myself. I take the IV out of my arm and try to swing my legs over the side of the bed. My head still feels a little fuzzy as I try to stand up. I grab onto the railing to steady myself, my legs weak from not being on the for however. I look around the room for something to wear, 'cause this hospital gown ain't gonna cut it... That's odd, normally a nurse or something would have rushed in here because I look the IV out, but nothing... I think as I look around, no one. I head towards the washroom to get a drink of water and I hear something from outside my door. I looked around for something to use as a weapon, only finding a broken piece of glass. I put my ear on the door and open it slowly. Through the crack I see a man open his door with a bed blocking the entrance. He catches my eye as I fully open my door and he looks at me with confusion and relief all over his face.

"What's your name?" He asks me.

"Kathrine Dixon, yours?" I ask him, tightening my grip around the glass. He looks at the shard, then back at me. "I'm not going to hurt you." He tries to assure, slowly moving the bed out of his way.

"That's not the answer I was looking for."

"Sheriff Rick Grimes. Wanna give me a hand with this?" Fine. I walked over to Rick and helped him move the bed.

"What happened over here?" I asked pointing at his stomach bandage.

"Gunshot wound. What about you?"

"I... I can't remember." I say as I frown. What did happen? Where's my Daddy?

"Well let's just try to get out of here first before we start playing 21 questions." He jokes as we start to walk down the hall.
