Chapter 1- broken

Emily's POV:
I walk to my locker and grab my first 2 periods books

Just as i close my locker i see my 2 best friends bailee and lena

I smile to them "good morning guys"

"Goodmorning! You remember about the test today in history right?" Bailee said

My smile drops and panic rushes over me. Im really bad at history and i fell asleep yesterday while studying

"I dont remember anything that i studied" i said quietly and looked down at my very old converse

Lena sighed "Emily why do you study so late? You are so close to failing the class!" She semi shouted to me

'Because i was busy getting beaten' i thought to myself. But i didnt say anything and just kept looking at my shoes.

Both of them sighed

We walked to class in silence. History is first period. Greeaatt

Fuck my life

*skip to lunch*

Me bailee and lena are sitting at lunch talking and laughing with our classmates

We've known our class since we were so small, so we all love and accept each other. I love my class

"Hey Emily can i please talk to you for a second?" I hear my teacher from behind me

Yes we have one teacher for all our subjects. Shes amazing, we are so close to her. "Yes mrs Susan?" I ask nervous. Its about the test im sure

"You have been failing history, what is happening" she asked sympathetically

I gulp "i dont have a lot of time to study" i told her looking her in the eye

She knows about my mum abusing me. And she understands me

"I understand, you know Emily, you are a smart girl, you can succeed" Mrs Susan said putting her hand on my shoulder "I wish i could help you, and this is the last year i will be able to raise your grade to a passable one" she said taking her hand off my shoulder

I just nodded in shame. Im gonna have a panic attack if i keep looking at her

She nodded back to me and walked away.

I took a deep breath and walked back to my lunch table

"It was about the test right?" Lena sighed disappointingly

I just nodded. It upsets me how She acts like she is my mum about this, but shes right.

Lena shaked her head and went back to talking and laughing with everyone

"You know how lena is dont take it seriously" bailee whispered to me

I smiled lightly and nodded to her

*skip the rest of school*

I dreadfully open the door of my very poorly constructed home

Just as expected my drunken mother came out of her room

"Oh you know how useless you are? You are a waste of everyones time! Why do you bother? No one cares anyway about you" my mum laughed coldly and slapped me.. hard

"Im sorry.." i said quietly while grabbing my cheek and looking down

"Shut up!" She yelled and started

Kick

Punch

Slap

Kick

Kick

Over and over again.

After what felt like forever she finished beating me up, she grabbed her keys and ran out the door

Im just left on the ground crying in pain. I need to clear my head i cant take this anymore

I slowly get up and clean myself. I flinch everytime i touched a bruise or cut but i finally managed.

I grabbed my keys and limped out of my house.

I know exactly where im going

There is a bakery close to my school that everyone goes to. But i doubt anyone would be there. Because everyones studying

When i arrive i pull out a chair for myself and sit down.

I look at my surrounding. Trees, quiet buildings, and a road

I let it all out

What did i do to deserve this? Why?
Why am i the target? I didnt do anything

"WHY?" I yell and pull on my hair

Im not happy. Not at all. I would be happy if i had all my things straight, succeed in what im doing, and surround myself with good people. Thats when ill be happy

After a while i calm down and my mind is just blank. Im zoned out and i cant hear anything

I look to my right and see from a distance 2 of my friends Josh and Alex.

"Shit shit shit" i freeze

I get up and turn the other way
"Hey Emily is that you?" josh yelled after me

I ignore it and keep walking, trying not to show that im limping

"Hey!" Alex tapped my shoulder making me turn around

"Are you ok?" Josh asked me concerned "im fine" i fake smile to him

"No you arent. You are filled with bruises and cuts. And you have been crying i can tell" Alex said inspecting my face

"I said im fine" i tell them and try to walk away but alex pulls me back

"What happened?" He said sternly

"Nothing! Leave me alone" i yanked myself out of his grip and ran off home

Alex's POV:

Oh my god. Something is wrong with her

"What the hell" Josh mumbled

"Something is wrong with her" i said worriedly

"Indeed. We have to tell bailee and lena" Josh said

I nodded

Emily's POV:

Im leaving

Im leaving school. My house. My friends

I need to get things straight.
