"Check mate." Chat Noir gave a playful smirk.

Yesterday Marinette's parents had left for a baker's convention and would be gone for the next week. Therefore she was finally able to bring her Chat downstairs, relieving him of the cooped up corners of her room.

Her Chat.

Every time she thought of him, her mind traveled back to their kiss. The memory was burned into her brain, starting a fire of feelings inside her that she never wanted to be extinguished.

She didn't know what they were exactly. But she did believe that this black cat had caught her under his love spell.

"It's not my fault I'm awful at chess." Marinette said, crossing her arms. Chat, yet again, had achieved victory. "I thought you were supposed to have bad luck." She muttered through a pout.

"Well, I guess this alley cat's skill trumps his misfortune." he replied with his signature Cheshire grin.

Marinette gave him a playful shove. "You're such a dork."

"Maybe, but I'm your dork."

His comment caught her a bit by surprise, but she could tell his words had the same effect on him. A pink blush graced his cheeks, and he nervously scratched the back of his neck.

Maybe this tomcat needed a taste of his own medicine.

"What, cat got your tongue?" Marinette asked, scooting closer to him, bopping his nose. His blush deepened.

"N-No. I-I'm fine."

"Really? Because I'm almost pawsitively certain you're not."

"Y-You know, you're evil." he stuttered out.

"Maybe." She giggled. "But I'm your evil one."

The flustered look on his face softened, and he leaned closer to her, eliminating the small space between them. His beautiful, grassy eyes locked onto her ocean ones, and in that moment they both felt as if they were looking upon their whole world.

Their lips inched closer together, and Marinette's eyes began to flutter closed. Everything felt so perfect.

That was until the screams began, interrupting the kiss just before their lips could meet. Another Akuma.

Chat stood up, a slightly irritated look spread across his face.

"Well my evil one, I must leave, but not a moment will go by when I don't think of you." he said in a flirtatious voice.

The girl giggled. "Well my dork, make this battle a quick one."

He kissed her forehead, before exiting through the balcony.

When he left, it was as if he took all the warmth of the room with him. Suddenly it felt lonely. Confining. Empty.

Marinette couldn't help but think there was an invisible force, pulling her to follow him. As if resigning as Ladybug was a mistake. But then Chloe's words flashed through her mind. Yet again Marinette felt unimportant. Just a weak, useless nothing.

Chat was practically leaping with joy across the rooftops, his wounds now not more than a dull pain. He couldn't seem to take his mind off her. With Marinette he felt complete. As if all his broken pieces had finally been put back together with each beautiful smile she gave him. He knew she was the best part of him, and he couldn't help but feel that he had already fallen in love. In love with her kindness. Her hope. Her smile. Her quirkiness. Her courage. Her beauty. Her heart. Her. Everything about her was just so beautiful.
