What Summer?

Summer? What summer?

That breeze that once set me free
Now smells like broken glass.
It makes my insides bleed.
Red runs down until the sand does no longer look like brass.
The ground feels hot under my feet.
I'm chilled to the bone.
I reach for something to lean on,
I reach for you; but now you're made of stone.

Summer? What summer, love?

I' m too tired to swim.
I just lie there, in the middle of the ocean.
Half empty, half dead,
Drained of life, drained of emotion.
The sun burns my skin
And my skin turns transparent in such a dramatic way.
There are waves around me, so many waves
And I'm their prey.

Summer? What summer?

I'm going down, I'm about to reach the seabed.
And you can't even see me anymore;
I'm all blue now
But I've never liked blue that much before.

Summer? What summer are you talking about, my love?

There will be no summer for me this year.
No summer at all.

Summer? What summer, love?
