Alfie's POV

~~~~~~
Zoe started making pancakes as soon as we got downstairs. She added strawberries and cut up some mango. She poured coffee and handed it to me.
I watched her in utter fascination--in the kitchen she really meant business.
I chatted with Joe as she prepared breakfast.
"Be nice to her, lad," Joe said quietly as she poured some mix into a frying pan. "She's pretty delicate."
I nodded. I knew this all already. And I could honestly say that it didn't matter to me that she had a messed up past and anxiety attacks. She was who she was, the Zoe I loved (cute, sweet and energetic) and that was all that mattered. Only the present.
Yes, I was curious. She had hinted at some pretty serious stuff that had gone down, but I was just hoping that she would tell me eventually. That I could gain her trust enough for her to trust me with all of her secrets.
I think as soon as I knew more about her and she knew more about me and I didn't feel like there were such holes in our knowledge, that was when I would pop the question. Get down on one knee, pull out a diamond ring, give a lovey-dovey speech.
I mean, we already knew a lot of personal things together. I knew how bad her anxiety attacks really were, she knew that I was pretty goddamn depressed.
And so far that hadn't stopped us.
A couple months later
Zoe and I had finally arranged to film the challenge video. Mum and dad had been furious when they discovered that I had snuck out and spent the night at her house. It had taken weeks and weeks to convince them to let me see her and then weeks to explain why I needed to see her to Dr. Brooke (my shrink).
They had finally agreed and, after a few days of planning, I was driving over to Zoe's house (finally!), listening to Ed Sheeran as I did and dancing along to the music.
I reached her home right after Lego House ended. It felt like the perfect song for the occasion admittedly.
I stepped out of the car, grabbed my filming equipment and rang the bell.
Mr. Sugg answered the door.
"Alfie," he said, not looking that pleased. "I'm not sure this is a very good time ... "
"Zoe agreed I could come over, sir," I said, feeling a blush warm my cheeks.
"I don't doubt it," Mr. Sugg said, his face worn with worry. "But I think that plans might've changed ... "
I furrowed my brow. "She never told me they did ... " I said. Honestly, I was not letting anything get in the way of me seeing Zoe.
Mr. Sugg sighed and massaged his temple. "You're dating her, are you?"
I nodded. "Yes, sir."
Mr. Sugg sighed again and nodded, as though his fears were confirmed. "I guess you'll see her like this eventually, then." He moved out of the doorway and opened the door up wider. "Come in, son."
