AN: THIS IS ONLY PART ONE OF TWO CHAPTERS ON THEAST DAY
This one is pretty focused on the group's attitude and it kind of lacks in detail but the next one is a lot more special so keep that in mind XOCamile's P.O.V:
The last day on Superior seemed like something of a dream. A page out of an unfamiliar book, a mystery that I would soon be picking up. When I woke up, the cabin was uncomfortably still, no sizzling of food on the stove, no howling of our new friends. Over night it seemed that all life had been drained. My aunt Stella decided that we wouldn't cook breakfast today, the gathering, cleaning then packing of all the food and ingredients too hectic to worry over. Instead, less than fresh leftovers got microwave and that drone filled the house.
After long enough of drowning myself in damp thought, I decided to leave my bed, heading over to the window in the room. Quietly I slid the glass up, allowing a cool breeze to fill my nose and dance and wrestle in my curls. Although my cabin was dull, I could hear chatter an hustle coming from my neighbours.
After a bit of watching out at the beach, like a well oiled machine, the Mendes' exited their cabin. In one brisk line they all had pots and dishes in tote an made their way over to my doorstep. The last to come through was Shawn who ironically carried what looked like the lightest dish, a plastic container of fruit. As he looked over and saw me, perched on my widow, he smiled. He quickly handed off his container to Cole who stood in front of him with barley any warning and was soon darting across the lawn to me.
I grinned helplessly at the tall, handsome boy who now stood, leaning on my window sill with a goofy smile. "Morning beautiful," he smirked, and although my hair was a mess and my face bare, I knew he meant it. "Hey you." Maintaing his smile he leaned through the window and gave me a long kiss. "You look cute," I smiled against Shawn's lips giving him one more peck after. He wore a crisp white t shirt and khaki shorts with his black vans, his hair still a bit messy for sleep. "So do you." Shawn smiled, capturing his tongue between his teeth as he looked at me in all my morning glory. Hair unkept and loud, a baggy Pink Floyd shirt from god knows when, yet he still saw something special in me and that made me glad.
"What's with all of the pots?" I asked hearing his family come through the door. "We knew you guys didn't want to cook so we figured we'd cook all day, as a thank you I guess. You've all been so nice since we came." I just grinned at Shawn and got him to kiss me again right before I heard Callie and Amy rustle."Good morning, Mrs. Mendes!" I turned to look at Callie who had risen out of her bed and approached Shawn and I at the window. "Cute bum Cammy," she laughed, smacking my ass as I stood in tight spanks. "Shawn your girl has a nice booty!" Amy yelled, getting up too. I shook my head and looked at Shawn who just laughed before winking at me, "You do." With that I throw my head back and covered my face, not wanting to look at anyone around me anymore. "Babe," he laughed, "Come back". Reluctantly I headed back over to Shawn who was smiling at me through the opening. "I'm gonna go change," I said shaking my head. "Okay, but kiss me first," he laughed. Rolling my eyes I gave him a pouty kiss before walking away to my bags. "Cute butt!" he yelled and walked off, leaving me beat red no doubt.
I changed into yoga pants and a VS pink hoodie to come to breakfast. After my face was washed, my hair and teeth got brushed and I added a bit more life to my face with makeup, I felt much more presentable. When I came out into the kitchen the first thing to catch my eye was Shawn's smirk, that followed as I got my food until I said down beside him. "I like the pants," Shawn grinned before taking a long drink from his orange juice. My eye roll earned a small chuckle and wink from him and a laugh from Cole who sat with us.
"Last day hittin' the beach kids, you ready?" My uncle spoke over the murmur, leant back on the kitchen island. I turned to look up at Shawn who pursed his lips and gave me a sorry smile. Moving his plate aside, he lifted his arm up, allowing me to curl into his side. Pulling me in tight, he kissed the top of my head, "It'll be alright."
After breakfast, I headed back to my cabin and packed up my things, putting everything but my swimsuit, guitar and the clothes that I had on, in the van. At 12:00 everyone headed out to the beach.
"Please, don't look so sad." Shawn wrapped his arms around me from behind, walking with me to our towels. Feeling Shawn wrapped around me, our nearly bare bodies, warm against each other brought heat all over my body and made me blush, even in my grey-cast mood. Slowly, Shawn turned me around still holding onto me, so that he was looking down into my eyes. "It's just so soon," I complained.
"I'll come see you when you're in Toronto, okay?" In a small motion I nodded my head and let Shawn connect our lips quickly. "You, okay?"
"Yeah."
"Good."Before I had the time to grasp what was happening, Shawn put his hands on my thighs and scooped me up, and began walking to the water.
"Shawn, don't!" I yelled as he waded in the shallow edge of the lake. Laughing, he took a deep plugs underwater and released my body when our heads were below the water's surface. The cool, blue water wake up my entire body as I swam back to the top, to greet Shawn."You're not funny!"
The entire time in the water was spent just fooling around, letting thoughts of leaving flea out minds for about half an hour. It was just what I needed to set a good mood for the rest of the short day."Hey, Smiley," he whispered, and a warm kiss was pressed on my cheek. Shan moved to Aaliyah next, wrapping his arms around her shoulders and rocking her, giving her head a kiss too. "Shawn, get off!" she whined trying to pry her brothers strong arms from her body. "Love you too, Dawg." Making n. laugh, Shawn came around and say down on the bench beside his sister who I was talking to over lunch.
Callie, Andrew, Cole and Amy sat across the picnic table from Aaliyah, Shawn, Luke and I as we all chatted over our last lunch together. Cole had put his phone on an Apple doc and allowed his corny, 80's rock to play aloud. "I say we do a peak and a pit of our trip" Amy said setting down her glass and throwing an arm around Callie. I compliance we all mumbled, and she began our sharing right as, "Don't You" began to play.
(It'd be a good idea to play it while reading)
Everyone's peaks were a mix of meeting new people as trying new things like fishing or boating and honestly I would miss those sorts of things the most. I could call or text everyone anytime that I wanted to, and catch up, but Montreal didn't have wild life quite like this.
"My pit, is probably how short the stay's been," Shawn began, "And my peak..." Slowly, he looked around the table, down at Aaliyah and then to me, with a smile. "I made a new family."
