"They don't think you're dead, so you should be in it," Jack said, referring to the video we were about to make.
"Besides, you will be performing solo, its only suiting," Merritt said.
I nodded, and stood next to Danny. We were about to create a video that we would put on YouTube. It wouldn't be long until the video went straight to the trending page and everyone on the planet would be able to see it. Since the streaming of the Thames would be international, so would we. No pressure, right?
"I'm ready when you are," Court said, adjusting the camera a tiny bit.
"We're ready," Danny said, taking my hand.
Court pressed record, and pointed at us. "Not long ago we were tricked," Jack started. "I was exposed and brought back from the dead."
"So we thought it was only fitting to do it to the person who did it to us," Lula added.
"Midnight, New Year's Eve, London," Danny listed. "We will be performing a series of shows that all connect to our big finale."
"So pay close attention to each trick," I said.
"So leave your kiddies at home and get ready for a wild night," Merritt added.
"Because we, too, will bring someone back from the dead," I finished.
Court pressed the stop button, and turned off the camera. "Lana, can you edit this when we get to London?"
I nodded. "I can do that."
Dylan walked into the basement. "Grab everything you'll need, we're headed to the airport now."
We all nodded, and grabbed everything we'd need, which wasn't much. I grabbed the clutch, which contained one of Mabry's several credit cards, my phone, a USB drive that I stole from Mabry's, and another USB I brought from New York, one I always keep on me for editing. The others went upstairs before me, leaving me with my thoughts.
We're gonna destroy everything you love, starting with Atlas, and ending with every last dedicated follower you have.
Those words ran through my head over and over. When I was taken, this threat was drilled into my head before I jumped off the boat. Mabry was full of hate and sociopathic thoughts, and I just wish he could learn to keep his thoughts to himself.
Why is it that you are so dedicated to the Horsemen? Tressler had asked. They had destroyed your life. Had you quit, you could be living your life like you did four years ago.
At the time, I had thought he was actually sort of right. Do I miss the life I had? Yes, I thought about it every day. I missed being able to go out in public without a disguise and being able to have actual interactions with fans. I miss being able to perform magic to crowds anywhere and not worrying about the feds.
"Lana, you ready?" Danny called.
I looked at him. "Yeah, let's go."
I followed him upstairs and to the streets. There was a truck ready and full of boxes full of props. "The others already left," he said. "Li and his grandmother are taking a passenger plane up there later today."
"They'll be there in time?" I asked as I got into the driver's seat.
"As long as there are no delays." I started driving. "What's going through your head?"
I looked at him. "It's nothing."
"What did Walter say?"
I didn't plan on telling him about what Walter said, and I looked back at the road. "It wasn't him, it was his goddamn father."
