Even though Lafayette and Laurens don't remember it, they've actually meet once as children. Laurens threw his pink ball in the road, and went to go get it back. He stopped in the middle of the road picking it up. He was too young and innocent. Lafayette almost died by saving his life and pushed him out of the way, the car almost hitting Laf.
