You'd think that after saving her boyfriend from an eternity in Hell, things would be back to normal. Well, as normal as your life can be when you see souls and your boyfriend is Death. But for Maddie things are about to get even more strange.
The school's popular heart throb, Leif, had gone missing. While the whole city is worried sick, Maddie is nothing but nervous, but for other reasons.
Apparently, Leif isn't a normal teenager. He isn't even human. According to Death, Leif doesn't have a soul. He could be missing, but he could still appear in Maddie's dreams, without being invited.
Ross knew from the start that Leif wasn't human. But he wasn't concerned be a simple soul-less creature. Now, he realises how big of a mistake he made. Maddie's soul had been marked since her birth as a restitution for a spirit so dark that not even Death could go near it.
Ross knows that saving Maddie's soul wouldn't be easy, but Maddie was his. And he had already challenged Heaven so he could stay with her. And if Hell wanted a piece of him as well, then so be it.
