Nate crept into the basement trying to be as quiet as possible, even though he was home alone. It was just a moment when you know you have broken a sacred rule and the tension is unbearable and every footfall sounds like the stampede of a thousand elephants and every sound you hear makes you freeze with anticipation of being caught. Nate's dad never let anybody in The Forbidden Basement, that was why it was forbidden and not just a basement, because of the crazy covered up government approved experiments his dad did there. How Nate got in there is a secret that he must die with but the stuff in there isn't. There were work benches and shelves full of tools and pieces of machinery, the walls were decorated with sketches and equations, but right in the middle of the room was a big thing covered in a sheet. Now Nate did not immediately uncover the thing as his video game instincts kicked and he knew that once he looked under the sheet there wouldn't be another checkpoint for a while so like a good gamer he checked the room for any collectables or hidden items (probably in a chest) that may come in handy later. Nate peered at the cluttered surfaces, not wanting to mess up stuff, until he stumbled upon a book of his that had some how ended up down there. Nate picked it up, the title read 'Storm And Silence'. This was the perfect piece to write his essay on, the memoirs of Lilly Linton, a famous victorian feminist who dressed as a man to work and advance women's rights! With book in hand Nate also nabbed a pen and notepad, his almost black eyes darting around the room furtively to make sure he hadn't missed anything, Nate pulled the sheet of the mysterious object in the middle of the room to reveal...
~Victorian London~
Lilly felt as if her day had been productive: she had annoyed Mr Ambrose, sorted some paper work and just about finished her book. It had yet to edited but at least the main stuff was down, Lilly had decided to split her adventure into several volumes to help her separate her thoughts, definitely not to torture her reader with cliff hangers noooo, and she had just finished the first book. Lilly had almost finished for the day and as for Mr Tall, Dark & Stony well he had to go tend to something or other and to be truly honest Lilly didn't actually listen as she was too busy writing. Lilly had big stretch, flexing all the stiff muscles in her arms. She thought she was prepared for the rest of the day, going back home, eating a disappointing dinner, maybe even watching Ella and Edmund and taking pleasure in their woes. However Lilly was not prepared for what happened next, you can bet your peacock waistcoat that the events about to take place where the last thing Lilly could have ever imagined.
Right in the middle of Lilly's office appeared from thin air (but really the space time continuum) was a wardrobe. Lilly nearly died from shocked as jumped from behind her desk. To make matters worse a tallish, skinny, lanky, freckled, tanned skinned, dark eyed; purple haired boy stepped out. "Hiya!" Said the boy with an impish grin, as if this kind of thing happened on a daily basis in normal society, but maybe it did and Lilly should have paid more attention to her sisters at breakfast. The fact that Lilly seemed frozen didn't deter the boy as he continued " my name is Jay-Nathaniel but Nate is fine and I come from the year 2017 with a couple questions Lillian..." At the mention of her full name Lilly snapped out of her shock. "You have a couple questions? Well I get to go first, who are you?, how do you know my name?; do women ever get the vote?" Lilly spewed out her questions at a high velocity. Nate seemed pretty chill as replied " I already answered the first one, I'm Nate, I have read your books and yes women get the vote in England but equal pay needs some work."
"Where are from? You don't sound like a Londoner."
" I'm from the little city of Plymouth in Devon."
"Look, do-"
"No, you look, I know you have a lot of questions but if I give too much away then this timeline will be ruined and I might have to come back and kill you later or something and frankly I got an essay to write on you book so will you sit down and answer my questions please!"
Lilly sat down at her desk and tried not to think too hard about the millennial in front of her and what he just said. "Thank you" Nate breathed out exasperatedly, "okay, now let's start..."

After a very grilling interview, Lilly felt exhausted and just felt like flopping into bed, who knew that talking about yourself could be so tiring? She'd never had this problem before. Nate finished writing down a last note in some of the most appalling handwriting Lilly had ever had the misfortune to see, good luck deciphering that later. "Thanks for answering my questions Lilly!" Nate then made his way back to the wardrobe.
"Wait!"
Nate turned to look at Lilly.
"So are you just gonna go back to your time now?"
"Yeah."
"And I'm just supposed to carry on like my entire world hasn't just been flipped upside down?"
"Yeah."
"And I won't get to know your essay mark?"
"Pretty much."
"But thats not-"
"Not what Lilly? It's dangerous for me to travel back again! I was lucky I got you alone and my dad would skin me if he caught me. I'm sorry Lilly."
Lilly wasn't sure how to feel, Nate sighed and walked over to the girl in the peacock waistcoat. Nate gave her a hug and Lilly took in the violent shade of violet that was his hair, Nate took a step back and looked her in the eye and said with his easy impish grin "make sure to cause a lot of mischief with that handsome employer of yours, little ifrit." Lilly gave a little chuckle and nodded. With his parting words of wisdom Nate went back into his time traveling wardrobe, wishing more could be said as the wardrobe disappeared back to The Forbidden Basement. Lilly was left in her office staring at where the wardrobe had just been, when the door opened and Mr Ambrose walked in.
"What are you doing Mr Linton? Why are you staring like that?"
As Mr Ambrose fired his questions Lilly  made her way around him and closed the door. Instead of answering his demanding questions, she had done more than enough of that today, Lilly turned on her heel to come face to face with her favourite ice cold statue, grabbed his collar and pressed his lips to hers. She intended to keep well on her promise of mischief.

Nearly finished! I wish this was how I could research all my essays but alas I have to use Google. The guy who sings the song above is not me we just look similar(ish) and have the same name(ish); he has superior pipes to me.  I have tried to keep characters accurate and stuff for you guys so stay classy and see ya in the next one!
