"Flight #5089, now boarding. Flight #5089, now boarding."

Oh my god.

This is actually happening. I can't believe this. What am I getting myself into? This might be a huge mistake. I don't think I can do this.

"Ma'am, are you going to get in the line to board or not?"
I turn around to see who's speaking to me. Or if they're even speaking to me.

A young girl, maybe 18 or 19 years old, is peering into my eyes. She's petite. Her platinum blonde hair falls around her face just perfectly.

"Oh yes, of course! I'm sorry. I'm just really nervous" I respond as I wheel my suitcase towards the gate.

Flight #5089. The first stop is California. The second and last stop.... Honolulu!

Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of moving to Hawai'i. My mother always thought I was insane... like always. My father, on the other hand, could care less about what I do. In my opinion.

I don't know why I have always been so attracted to it. I love the ocean. The heat. The sea salt breeze. The flowers. The Volcanoes. My head spins at the number of beautiful things Hawai'i as to offer.

"Last call for flight #5089. Boarding is currently in progress. Boarding will be closing in five minutes. Last call for flight #5089."

After what seems like a million years has passed, the staff member checks my plane ticket and I.D. Without a second glance, he sends me through the gate.

As I shuffle my way to the airplane, I take deep breaths. Like what you're supposed to do in yoga. Except... I don't really do yoga, so I wouldn't technically know what that's like.

I step onboard and instantly feel the temperature change. The airplane is miserably hot, with a bunch of bodies crammed into it. This is going to be a long flight.

I continue to shuffle my way through the airplane to find my spot. I bought an economy ticket, so I make my way towards the very back of the plane. I scan the rows and letters until I find the right seat.

Row H, seat 3.

This is it.

There's no turning back.

No more mom to harass me.
No more dad to criticize me.
No more worry.

I am finally going to live my life for myself. After all these years, I will finally be able to live the life I want to live. I will finally be free to be whoever I want to be.

I close my eyes and I can already smell the salty air blowing through my hair. I can already feel the sun beating down on every square in of my body.

Hawai'i, here I come.
