Summer of '65
A summer hot like no other, a boy wants to cool off.
And so it starts.
Don is a kid born in Tulsa, not from Tulsa. He knows the east-west divide, he knew the Greasers and the Socs, he knew them, but he wasn't a part of either group, he couldn't be. He lived, for most of the year, in Boston attending a boarding school, but when that ended, his life in Tulsa began. One summer, this life began with a greasy-dark haired boy who can't swim trying to cool down.
The greasers he found himself surrounded with were unlike any people he'd ever met before, and he started to love them all, slowly and surly.
Swimming pools, blistering heat, rodeos, and the harsh separation of people made this summer the longest one Don's had in a long time, but he can't say that he hated all of it.
