Link's POV

I wake up to my alarm clock beeping. I turn it off and slip out of bed. I take a shower and get myself dressed in black dress pants, a red and black plaid dress shirt, and my black dress shoes. I eat a bowl of frosted mini-wheats before I make the twenty minute drive to Burbank High School. The staff parking lot is fairly empty when I arrive. I walk past the security desk and make my way to my desk in the English department resource room. Rhett's desk is right next to mine, so it makes it easy to work on stuff together during the school day. Rhett arrives at his desk a few minutes later. "Hey Link," he greets me. "Hey, I want to talk to you about something," I respond. "Of course. Is everything okay?" Rhett asks with a concerned look on his face. "It's about Megan," I begin. I look around to make sure we're alone. "Stevie brought this up to me last night and the more I think about it, the more I realize that we have to do something. I think she has an eating disorder. She's getting dangerously thin, man and I'm not going to let her die on us," I insist as my eyes fill with tears. I blink them away quickly. "I think you're right. Maybe ask some of her friends in your class. Her and Morgan are pretty close in mine, so I can talk to her before class," he offers. "Thanks, Rhett," I smile softly. "We'll help her," he promises.

Megan's POV

I walk up to the bus stop and find Jamie standing there. "Hey, I missed you yesterday," I tell her. "Thanks," she says, looking down at her feet. "Is everything alright?" I ask. Jamie's lip begins to tremble and her eyes fill with tears. "I was gone yesterday because my uncle in San Francisco was murdered," she sniffles. "I'm so sorry," I whisper, giving her a hug. She calms down just as the bus arrives. We ride the bus in silence. Jamie withdraws to the cafeteria. I sit around in the library, conserving my energy. No matter how long I sleep, I feel really tired. My grades are still almost perfect thankfully. I would hate to see what would happen to me if mom caught me with average grades. I go to the computer lab when our five minute bell rings. Link is sitting at the desk. "Hey Link, I just wanted to thank you for yesterday. It really made my day," I exclaim. His lips curve into a smile. "My pleasure. I'm glad you had fun. Let me know whenever you want to come with me," he coaxes. Jamie arrives and sits next to me as the rest of the class arrives. "Hello class. Today is our last day for the informative paper. By the end of the class period, you must turn in your final draft to me. If you finish early, you can brainstorm ideas for some poetry we're going to write next week," Link instructs us. I scan my paper, editing it until it's perfect. I print it, staple the pages together, and hand it to Link. "Thanks, Meg" he says. I go back to my computer and retreat to my thoughts. I'm already dreading lunch to the point of feeling nauseous. The bell saves me from myself and I rush out of the room.

Link's POV

The bell rings and Megan runs out the door. "Jamie, could I talk to you for a second?" I ask her once most of the class is gone. "Sure," she shrugs her shoulders. "You and Megan seem to be close friends, so that's why I'm asking you this. Does Megan seem to be acting differently to you?" I question. She thinks for a few seconds. "Now that you mention it, she has been acting a little strange. She's sometimes a little withdrawn and won't talk or eat much at lunch. I know she pushes herself hard in swimming. She's easily one of the most dedicated people on the team," Jamie observes. "Thank you for telling me this. You can go to class now," I tell her. She strolls out of the room. I feel better that I'm not the only person seeing these changes. I head to my desk and type a report about Megan's situation. I send it to her counselor, requesting him to meet with her and then dive into grading papers.

Megan's POV

The first half of the day flies by. Dizziness and nausea overwhelm my body to the point that I camp out in the bathroom during lunch. I arrive at the guitar and voice classroom with two minutes to spare. Morgan and Rhett emerge from the office and Morgan sits next to me. "Where were you at lunch?" she questions. "I was working in the library," I lie. "Well, I hope you ate something," Morgan sighs. "I did," I reply quickly, hoping that she'll drop the subject. "Okay class, we're going Maroon 5 today," Rhett announces. I help Morgan with harmony for Just a Feeling and she helps me for Beautiful Goodbye. Part of the song reminds me of how mom actually was loving when I was a toddler and how everything went downhill. It was a beautiful goodbye to my childhood. When the bell rings, I hurry out of the room and find Jamie in biology. She immediately asks me, "Are you okay? Why weren't you at lunch?" "Yes, I was working on homework," I lie with a confident smile on my face. Our teacher walks up to us and hands me a slip of paper. It's a note from my counselor telling me to meet him right after this class. I frown slightly as I shove it in my backpack. We take notes during class.
