Rainbows

Everyone believes in rainbows.

They are arrogant, brilliant, arching souls

Whose colors are actually bragging

And pushing shadows back into their holes.

These rainbows may glisten and shine and shimmer

But they make the shadows seem much dimmer.

As their colors flaunt across the sky

Foolish mortals gasp with gullible eyes.

These shadows are made to stay in the shade,

And never dance across the glade,

And never fall down in a vibrant cascade,

And sunlight watches as they fade.

But they are meant to be unsurveyed,

As rainbows command that they stay in the shade.
