Louis' P.O.V.Louis was a twenty five year old boy, quite shy at times, yet not afraid to speak his mind when it came to it.
Louis was quite a small boy, not very tall, only about five nine, rather skinny as well. But he was a feisty one. Definitely not afraid to fight for himself and express his opinion about anything, or anyone for that matter.
Louis had a family to support, his mum, along with his four sisters. Louis' family owned a small farm right on the outside of the village. Although it was small, it had quite the collection of animals. Ranging from sheep to cows, they had pretty much anything you could find. The only thing they didn't really have were horses. They only had one horse, which was Louis' horse, Philipe which he only used for emergencies.
Louis had been out for the day, headed into the village to sell some of the farm crops at the market, along with buying some clothes for his younger sisters. It had been a normal day for him. He woke up early, supplied the family with breakfast, checked on Philipe, then headed out to the village.
However, when Louis was returning to the farm, he sensed that something wasn't right. He could smell smoke from the trail in the Forrest, and that's when he saw it. His eyes widened as he raced toward his home. The flames had to have been high, the whole farm was covered in smoke, making it hard for Louis to see, but he could tell one thing, everything was gone.
Everything he had grown up with had been burn to ash, the barns, the crops, his house. His home. It was all gone, along with his family. All the animals were dead, even Philipe was surely gone.
Louis collapsed to the ground, tears falling out of his eyes as he sobbed. His cheeks were hot, his eyes burned from the smoke and tears. He didn't know what to do with himself, he didn't have anything or anyone.
He missed his family. He thought about his mum, she was still young and healthy. Then he thought about his sisters. Lottie was only a few years younger than him, just starting to become a proper farmer like him. Daisy and Phoebe, they were still young, witty like Louis. He remembered when he would walk in from outside and they would be helping their mum cook in the kitchen. Then there was little Felicity. Her warm smile, the ways he cared for everyone and everything. She would always sneak into the barn in the spring while Louis was working to comfort the newborn animals. Louis remembered how she used to sneak in bed with him when she had a bad dream, how her little toes used to be cold against his legs, but he didn't care. He wanted his family back.
He heard a horses hooves in the distance, but he didn't care. He just stayed in the same position, his head in his arms, knees tucked up to his chest.
He soon heard fast footsteps, as if someone was running.
"Louis!", The voice shouted.
Louis didn't move, he just wiped his eyes a bit, only for them to be re-filled with tears almost immediately.
"Louis!", The voice called again.
This time, Louis felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Oh, Louis", The voice said.
Louis looked up to see Liam standing over him, a sorrow-filled expression on his face. Louis immediately wrapped his arms around Liam, crying into his chest as Liam comforted him.
"Aw Lad, I'm so sorry. I came as quickly as I heard", Liam said, squeezing Louis a little tighter to let him know he was there for him.
Louis backed away from Liam, wiping his eyes for the final time, and looking up at Liam.
"You ok?", Liam asks.
Louis nods, letting out a breath.
"I'm ok now", Louis said.
Liam furrowed his eyebrows, but still nodded his head.
"Let's grab you're things a head out, you can say at my place. You know you're welcome anytime", Liam says.
Louis can only nod. He tries to speak, but he can't. So many emotions consume his body that he can't bring himself to speak, let alone think straight.
Liam begins to walk around, grabbing the bag that he knows is Louis', and stuffing it with anything he can find that could be useful to them. But he stops when he sees something, a letter perhaps sitting on the ground. It's completely white, as if whoever left it there wanted them to see it.
He bends down to pick it up. When he flips it over, he sees its sealed with one of those fancy red stamps that rich people use.
"Hey, Louis?", Liam calls, catching Louis attention as he turns towards him.
"What have you found, Liam?", Louis asks.
Liam continues to examine the envelope, surely it's a letter. What else could it possibly be?
"I think it is a letter", Liam says.
"Should we open it?", Louis asks.
Liam nods, seeing no reason not to. Maybe it will tell them who burnt down Louis' house.
Louis takes the letter from Liam's hand, ripping the envelope open. His eyes scanned across the page, reading each word intently, his eyebrows furrowed so tight, Liam thought they might permanently stay that way.
When Louis looked up, he was enraged. His face was red, but not from tears, from anger. Liam could have sworn he saw smoke coming from Louis' ears.
"What is it mate?", Liam asks.
Louis only shoves the letter into Liam's hands, his face never leaving the angry state it is in.
"I'm going to kill that jerk for everything he has, even if it kills me doing it", Louis says, his voice just above a growl.
"To the person reading this, if it is anyone at all. You are probably wishing to know what has happened to your home, to your family. I have not a regret in me when I tell you that, I have killed them. Burnt them to the ground along with the rest of your land. I have my reasons, which you do not need to know. The look on their faces was absolutely priceless, brought absolute pleasure to me. But do not worry, your family is not the only one to go, many others have gone as well. My family is safe though, I only wish my son was more like me. He will be the one to go soon. I give you all my regards, best wishes.
Yours Sincerely,
D.S."___________________________
