*Chase*

For the last two years the school kept Shane and I far apart, but with this senior year they decided to allow some contact. We are returning back to school for a new semester; for some reason my wolf loved the idea of going back. I yawned and slipped out of bed to take a shower; after I changed into a simple black shirt that clung to my chest and light blue jeans. I messed up my hair a bit before making my way downstairs.

My mom and grandma were in the kitchen making breakfast; my dad sat at the table reading the paper. I set my bag on the floor and sat at the table between my dad and Jayy; my mom quickly placed a plate of bacon and eggs in front of me, and placed a kiss on my temple. Jayy looked over at me, eyeing me with confusion.

"What's up man, why are you so happy?"  He asked. I just realized that I had a smile plastered on my face; so I shrugged and started eating my food. My father put the paper down and glanced curiously over at me, he raised an eyebrow in question.

"Is Chase actually happy to go back to school?" my mom teased and fake gasped.

"I don't know mom but for some reason my wolf is wanting to go to school." I shrugged and got back to eating.

"Really," my father seemed to some off in thought.

"What is it dad, do you know why I'm happy for school?"

"Well son your wolf will show excitement when they will encounter their mate."

"I'm getting her today; how will I know it's her?" I asked and smiled brightly.

"Oh my gosh my Chasey is finally going to have a mate and an Alpha Female. You bring her home with you after school so I can meet her." My mother gushed as she bounced around.

"Mom," I whined.

"Oh shush," she slapped me lightly on the shoulder before walking off to clean the kitchen.

"Anyways son you will know it's her because your wolf will know and follow her scent. When you touch or have skin contact you will feel sparks." I nodded and Jayy stood up from his seat.

"Come on man its time for school." I got up and placed a kiss on my mom and grandma's cheek before following Jayy out to my car.

The whole way to school I was on edge and Jayy was trying to calm me, but all I wanted was to find her and never let her go. Quickly pulling into a parking space I got out of the car and speed walked up to the school.

"Chase slow down," Jayy yelled as he yanked me back. I growled at him and he let go, holding up his hands. "Whoa man calm down."

"Sorry but I feel her, she's close."

"Really so she is here, can you smell her out?"

"Yeah she's here but I'll try to smell her out." I concentrated on finding her. All I could pick up was the cheap smelling perfume from the girls. And then it hit me, as I walked down the hallway the scent got stronger. "I smell her, she smells like roses on a rainy day but there is no scent of werewolf on her. I think she's human."

As I rounded the corner she came into view, my wolf got excited at the sight of my mate; she was absolutely gorgeous. Her straight midnight black hair hung down her back; I couldn't see her face since she was facing the front desk. My eyes drifted over her body, her perfect curves and down to her long legs. I moaned on the inside and made my way over to her as she reached for a piece of paper.

When she turned around her face was still partially hidden; she was looking down at the paper as her hair fell over her face. I did notice the single lip piercing on her right side and eh skin was deathly pale, which emphasized the black of her hair. I would have through she was a vampire with her skin being so pale but she didn't have the dead scent of one.

I was so focused on her that she ran into me; as she fell back I reached out to grab her. At once the sparks ran through me and my wolf sighed in bliss as he held his mate. I thought I caught a slight scent of a wolf as she looked up but the scent was gone in seconds; it was probably nothing.

I looked down at her and smiled on the inside; my girl was beautiful with her soft, smooth skin and her dark brown eyes. My parents would love her except my father would hate the fact that she is human.

I caught her looking me up and down with a lustful look in her eyes; my wolf groaned and wanted nothing more than to kiss her. Then he got pissed, she was ripped out of my arms by Taylor; when did she get here? Taylor sent me a glare; she just couldn't get over the little incident of sophomore year.

I didn't even notice that Taylor had been talking to me as I looked over my girl in front of me. "-and hurt the new girl Chase." She spat my name out coldly. My eyes flashed black as my wolf took over control but it was only mild, he was mad that Taylor would think I would ever hurt my mate. But I do see where she's coming from, I have hurt a lot of girls in the past.

The new girl looked over at me in shock before glancing at Taylor and looking back to me. "Just give her back Taylor," I growled out; all my wolf wanted was the girl. He was ready to rip Taylor away and hurt her but Shane was all of a sudden there at her side. I would- no could- easily take him; when a mate is taken from a male they get pissed and can easily take down anyone in their way, and I was going to do just that.

"Taylor just let me go," my mate's sweet voice spoke and I almost relax if it wasn't for the fact that I still didn't have her.

"No Layla you can't." I stopped listening after that; her name was Layla. It was a sweet name that matched her soft features; I felt my wolf relax a bit more now. I snapped back when I saw Layla's mouth moving.

"-wolf pissed and we have to calm him down. Now let em go," Layla used a stern tone hat any human would listen to, and that I liked. But my wolf saw that she wasn't getting what she wanted and isn't with him. My wolf got madder and took full control as my wolf's eyes came. 

Layla yanked her arm out of Taylor's grasp as she glanced at Shane; Layla looked over to me with soft eyes as she slowly took a step towards me.

"Layla don't," Taylor warned as she tried to lung for her. I growled and bared my enlarged teeth at her; Taylor's eyes widened as Shane pulled her behind his back and bared his fangs.

Turning my gaze at Layla I was afraid to see her reaction, would she run and never want to see me again? But no Layla was standing in front of me with a calm expression and small smile. I relaxed and sagged my shoulders as she neared me.  I saw Shane try to reach for Layla but I growled and took a step forward.\

"Shane and Taylor just stay back and let me calm him down." Layla looked over her shoulder to glance at the pair before facing me again. "Chase you have to clam down. It is ok," I loved the way she said my name; it was like a spell to me, making me calm down.

Layla stood in front of me and softly placed her hand on my arm; slowly rubbing up and down. My wolf relaxed when she touched me and the warm sparks ran through my body. I wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her into my chest; placing my chin on top of her head and took in her tantalizing sweet scent.

Slowly my wolf went away and I regained control; I pulled away slightly and glanced at her. Layla's eyes fluttered open and looked into mine; I gave a sheepish smile before reluctantly dropping my arm from around her and taking a step back.

Jayy too this as a chance to finally walk over, "Chase come one we have to go." I knew he really just wanted to ask me questions but I nodded and turned to walk off; but I stopped. I turned back around to face Layla and placed a soft kiss on her cheek.

I moved my mouth over to her ear and whispered, "I'll see you later." I felt her shudder a bit and let out a breathless 'ok'. I smirked and walked off to join my group of close friends. "I want you to look after her." I ordered. They nodded and glanced back at Layla before we walked on to class.
