Of Times Forgotten

Forgotten fields all filled with wheat
A lonely girl amid the heat
A summer's kiss, a daring feat
A pretty bow, wrapped up all neat

Red and orange swirl through the sky
Children smeared with cherry pie
A whispered prayer, a quiet lie
Watch the sunset slowly die

The trees sway slowly with the wind
She walks to where the forest's thinned
The plains where children once had grinned
She cries alone, for she has sinned

Laughter fills the empty way
A blue tinged sky fades in to gray
A fighter flies into the fray
A tragic ending to their day
