A Girl in my Heart

There is a girl who lives deep in my heart,

I hold her close to me and she whispers,

That she won't ever let us grow apart,

I smile and look in her eyes which shimmer,

They shimmer like hope and dreams and true love,

They protect me from harm and pierce my soul,

They fly into me and nest like a dove

Without her, I will never be a whole,

When we both walk down the street hand in hand,

Their evil eyes follow us with a glare,

Why can't we be equals and just as grand,

Why isn't this world loving and just and fair,

But we're in love and no one will stop us,

We're in love and gave each other our trust.
