One week later:
I begin to pack a suitcase for the Academy. As I walk down the stairs I see Sarah glaring at me.
“You better show him something EXTRA awesome when you get back Ash!” Sarah yells at me.
I get into the black car with extremely dark tinted windows. My mum walks up to the driver’s seat and knocks on the window.
“Are you sure he’ll be fine?”
The window scrolls down and Dr Counsel pokes his head out.
“Yes, he’ll be fine Mrs Coalman.”
“Okay.” She says backing away from the car.
“Bye mum!” I yell out of the window as we pull out of the driveway.
I look out at the ocean as we drive past Scarborough Beach. I feel my phone ringing in my pocket. I look at the number – It’s Emily!
“Hello?”
“Ash, I just saw a limo driving past Scarborough Beach!”
“I know, I’m in it.”
“What? Why?”
“I’m leaving for the holidays.”
“Ash! Why are you leaving?”
“There’s a summer school thing that my mum wants me to go to.” I lie.
“But, You have one of the highest averages in your grade.”
“But I’m not the best.” I follow up.
“But… I won’t see you.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll be back for school… I hope.”
“Okay. Have fun I guess.”
“I love you.” I say, not really knowing how boyfriends talk.
“I love you too Ash.” Emily says reassuring my previous comment.
I hang up the phone and then look out the window. I just have to wait. I pull my phone out of my pocket on feeling it vibrate. A text from Olly.
From: Olly
Hey! I wondered if you wanted to hang out and do some homework ;P
To: Olly
I can’t. Going to a summer school thing :\
From: Olly
What! That sucks man. What 4?
To: Olly
It’s kinda hard to explain
From: Olly
Nah, you can tell me anything :)
To: Olly
I have this weird power thing and I can set trees on fire and stuff

I knew you wouldn’t believe me

No it’s just crazy because I have a power too
I stared at my phone screen reading the last text over and over in my head just to make sure I read it correctly. I have a power too. What? I can’t believe it.
To: Olly
What’s yours…?
From: Olly
Water
Opposites. We were opposites. Fire and water. This was seriously weird. I had to get some air. I scrolled down the window to see that we were on a boat heading away from land.
“Where are we?” I called to the driver
“Heading to the Academy Sir.” He replied looking back at me slightly.
“Where is Dr Counsel?” Remembering that he was with us when I left my house.
“He got off at his workplace. He was just there to make sure you got here safely.”
“Oh, thank you.” I said sitting back in my seat.
