Mask

The man behind the mask,
Is there a smile made of glass,
Just waiting to break,
In the palm of your hands.

Or is there a frown?
Waiting to be turned upside down,
By the people who surround,
The light inside you that is waiting...
To be found.

What is the difference between sadness and happiness?
Sadness becomes permanent,
And happiness only becomes a passenger.

But one day,
I swear that one day,
Happiness will take over,
One day we can give sadness the cold shoulder,
  Cherish all of the great memories when we're older.

A mask is used as a disguise,
But what is there to hide?
I wonder what may lie,
Oh how I wonder what may lie.
