"jin hyung!"

seokjin stopped in his tracks, moving to the side of the busy hallway so he wouldn't be in the way, as he looked around for the source of the voice that had called him. within seconds he noticed namjoon running up to him, a huge grin on his face. "hey, you look happy. did you get laid?" seokjin teased as his younger best friend stopped in front of him, slightly out of breath.

"hyung, i got it!" namjoon exclaimed, grabbing seokjin's arms tightly. the elder blinked, confused.

"got what?"

namjoon stared at seokjin as if he was an alien. "the internship, hyung. i'm going to america!"

it was as if a lightbulb suddenly went off in seokjin's brain. he remembered namjoon telling him all about the internship he'd applied for, that he was so excited for. it was for two weeks in los angeles, and namjoon would be interning at a big record company. even though the younger was doing a double major in literature and philosophy, namjoon's true dream was to be a rapper. this opportunity would give him a chance of being hired at the studio someday.

which was why he was so excited that he'd been accepted. "that's great, joonie! that'll be so much fun," seokjin beamed at his best friend.

namjoon nodded, unable to stop smiling. that is, until suddenly his face fell and he looked regretful. seokjin furrowed his brows and tilted his head to the side, "what's wrong, namjoonie?"

"well, it's just... what am i supposed to do with jeongguk?" namjoon's voice was quiet.

seokjin stared at the younger.

"he'll need someone to look after him, dad's never home so he's virtually alone if i'm not there," namjoon began to ramble, tugging at his hair while seokjin just blinked at the absurdity of namjoon's frustration. for god's sake, the kid was eighteen, he could take care of himself.

"namjoon, don't you think jeongguk can handle being alo–"

"will you do it?" namjoon cut him off, a hopeful look in his warm eyes. "please, jin hyung? you're the only person i can trust with him."

seokjin wanted to laugh at the irony. if namjoon only knew. but looking into his best friends eyes, seokjin also couldn't help but think of how great a chance this was to get closer with jeongguk.

"okay, i'll babysit the kid."

namjoon's eyes lit up and he beamed, "thank you, thank you, thank you! i can always count on you." he wrapped seokjin in a hug which the elder returned, chuckling. it was funny how sometimes namjoon could appear older and more mature than seokjin but on the other hand, he could really act like a kid sometimes.

"do you have a list of rules i'm to follow? bedtime and what snacks he can have after dinner?" seokjin grinned teasingly once they broke apart. "do i have to pack his lunch for school?"

namjoon playfully smacked his best friend on the arm, "very funny. just keep him out of trouble, and i'll be happy."

"you're really gonna be gone for two weeks?" jeongguk mumbled from the doorway as he watched namjoon hurry to pack his suitcase. it was friday afternoon, and namjoon's flight left at five. he'd been busy all week with getting papers and projects done ahead of time for college so he would not have to do them in america, which was why he was currently rushing to pack half an hour before he had to leave for the airport.

namjoon turned, facing his brother with a guilty look, "i'm sorry, but this internship is really important to me. jin hyung promised to take care of you, though, so you'll be in good hands."

yes, jeongguk thought, he can put those good hands all over my bo

"guk? you okay?" namjoon looked concernedly at the younger, who'd suddenly stared off into space with an odd expression on his face.

jeongguk shook himself out of his thoughts and smiled at his stepbrother. "i'm okay, hyung. don't worry about me too much, okay? now hurry up, jackson hyung will be here soon and you won't be ready."

chuckling, namjoon nodded and returned to hurriedly shoving badly folded shirts and pants into his suitcase until it could hardly be zipped shut. in the end, jeongguk had to sit on it in order for namjoon to be able to close the bag.

a honk sounded from outside, and jeongguk smiled lightly. "your ride's here," he said and followed his brother downstairs.

he remained on the porch while namjoon lugged his heavy suitcase out to jackson's waiting car. the platinum haired male helped namjoon put his bag in the trunk and then namjoon was jogging back up the driveway to envelop jeongguk in a suffocating hug. "i'm gonna miss you so much, kiddo," namjoon mumbled into his brother's shoulder.

"hyung, i can't breathe," was all jeongguk said until namjoon let go. "i'll miss you too, loser. slay those producers and get some american ass," jeongguk grinned slyly, earning a flick on the temple. "ow!"

"language. okay, i gotta go before i miss my flight. love you!" namjoon called as he ran back to jackson's car and hopped in the passenger seat.

"love you too," jeongguk smiled and waved as the car pulled away. turning to go back into the house, he thought to himself, wow, i'm truly alone for the first time since moving here.

however as soon as he walked into the living room, he froze.

"what, you thought namjoon was just gonna let you be alone?" seokjin laughed, stuffing a potato chip in his mouth. "i'm staying here while he's gone. we're gonna have so much fun."

jeongguk swallowed nervously at the elder's words. the playful glint in seokjin's eyes did nothing to help, either.

this would surely be an eventful two weeks.
