Later that night, she saw a wolf.
Across the main road, where the woods began.
Its form looked so still and immobile she first thought it was just an abandoned statue at the side of the road.
But its tail moved. And it was watching her house. Unmoving. Motionless.
She thought it was too massive for the size of an average wolf, so fascinating that she forgot about the late hour.
