"The battle of Willow Creek took place at the end of the war in our very own Mystic Falls." Tanner tells the group, and alas Madelyn already knew this, "How many casualties resulted in this battle?" Tanner asked the class.

"Miss Bennett?" Tanner asked.

"Um... a lot? I'm not sure. But, like, a whole lot." Bonnie replied, earning snickers from Matt and Madelyn.

"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, miss Bennett." Tanner said rather harshly. "Mr. Donovan." He called.

"Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your jock stereotype?" He asked.

"It's okay, Mr. Tanner. I'm cool with it." Matt replies.

"Elena?" He calls. "Surely you can enlighten us about one of the town's most historical events."

"I'm sorry, I don't know." She replied.

"I was willing to be lenient last year for obvious reasons, Elena. But the personal excuses ended with summer break." The douche bag told her.

"There were 346 casualties, unless you're counting the local civilians." Stefan said.

"That's correct, Mr?" Tanner replied.

"Salvatore." Stefan replied.

"Salvatore. Any relation to the original settlers here at Mystic Falls?" Tanner asked.

"Distant." Stefan replied.

"Very good. Except, of course, there were no civilian causalities in this battle." Tanner replied.

"Actually, there were 27, sir." Madelyn said. "Confederate soldiers fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons." She added. "And they were wrong. It was a night of great loss."

"The founder's archives are stored in the civil hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts" she replied. "Mr. Tanner."

"Just admit it

"Just admit it." Bonnie said.

"Okay, so he's a little pretty." Elena said.

"I honestly want to marry him, he is like my dream guy. Kind, sweet, caring, he's intellectual and he looks at me like i'm so precious. I haven't felt this way since well forever." Madelyn said, making Bonnie smile brightly and Elena smirk. Stefan, who was listening into their conversation, felt like he was going to explode with happiness.

"Yeah well he likes me." Elena said. Making everyone frown.

"Elena he like Maddie. It's pretty obvious." Bonnie replied. Elena and Bonnie walk of, Elena in a huff of anger and Bonnie went to calm her down.

"So you want to marry me?" Stefan asked behind Madelyn. Making her squeal in surprise.

"You may be pretty, but do that again and you wont be pretty." She laughed, making Stefan smile brightly.  "I may have said that i wanted to marry you." she trailed of awkwardly.

They began to walk into the forest more talking to each other like they'd known each other forever. "You know, you're kind of the talk of the town. " Madelyn told him.

"Am i?" He asked smiling.

"Mm-hm. Mysterious new guy, oh, yeah." She told him with a little laugh.

"Well, you have the mysterious thing going too. Twinged in sadness." Stefan told Madelyn.

"What makes you think that i'm sad?" Madelyn said. Looking down.

"Well, we did meet in a graveyard." He told her.

"Actually no, we met outside the front office because i fell on you." Madelyn said with a smile. "You don't wanna know. It's not exactly party chitchat."

"Well, I've never really been very good at  chitchat." Stefan told her.

"I've lost a lot of people, about a year ago, before i came back to America. I was in England, in a boarding school. But the school got attacked, many of my friends died. The person who killed them all was the person who killed my real parents and separated me and my twin brother. Then last spring i lost my parents again." She told him. "So that's my story." She said, but that wasn't even half of it.

"You won't be sad forever, Madelyn." He told her.

"I hope not." Madelyn muttered.

"Somebody help!" Maddie heard Elena scream.

"Vicki? Vicki! What the hell!" Matt shouted running over.

"What happened?" Tyler asked.

"Call an ambulance!" Matt shouts. Madelyn quickly left the party, she didn't want to see anymore casualties caused by magical people, and she knew this was the work of vampire.

As soon as she entered her room she fell to the ground, crying. She couldn't take this anymore.
