Derek Morgan x Reader

--------
You were taking a nap when your ringtone filled the room.

Groggily you picked up the phone, "Hello?"

"Y/n, where are you?" y/f/n whispered.

"What do you mean?" in your sleepy state everything took a lot longer to process.

"You were meant to be at the library ages ago," y/f/n whisper yelled.

The clogs in your brain started working as you realised you had meant to meet y/f/n for a study session today, "Merlin! I'm so sorry y/f/n. I'll be there soon."

"You better," with that y/f/n hung up.

Throwing your hair into a messy bun, you slapped cold water on your face to wake you up. You grabbed the three books on your desk and locked the house and left. 'I should have brought my bag' you thought as you readjusted your grip on the books making sure none of the papers fell out. Since you were looking at your books you didn't notice another person walking along the footpath. The stranger bumped into you causing all your books to fall and the papers to flutter to the slightly damp ground.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking," you apologised to the stranger who had bent down to pick up the papers just as you had.

The two of you picked up papers and books together. Only when he handed your items to you did you actually see him.

You both stared at each other as your hands touched his, taking your things. 'Why does he seem familiar?'

"Y/n," his voice a tantalising whisper.

A memory clicked, "Derek?" you asked, your own voice softer than normal.

You mentally shook yourself out of the trance his warm brown eyes held you in.

"Fancy seeing you here," you chuckled awkwardly.

"Yeah," Derek rubbed his neck.

"It was nice seeing you, but I've got to go, bye."

You grabbed the books still his in hands and stood walking past him without waiting for a reply. 'Great now he'll think I'm avoiding him'.

"Y/n," Derek called out running up to you, "can I have your number? So that we can meet up again and talk."

"Oh yeah sure, uh I don't have spare paper on me, only a pen."

"Here," Derek held out his hand for you to write on.

Balancing your books against you hip you took the pen you hadn't noticed until now was in your bun and wrote your number on his hand. The brush of his skin against yours sent shivers down your spine.

Clicking the pen shut you put it back in its place, "Well, see you soon then Derek."

You turned and started walking to your destination, internally smiling.
