A/N: This one-shot is inspired by one of my favorite songs, "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts. If you haven't heard it (Or at least a cover of it):
A) You must live under a rock.
B)Go give it a listen! Also, this has AU qualities in it, Shane and Ryan are a bit younger to fit the song. And Ryan is sixteen, not the realistic age he would be if Shane were seventeen (he would be thirteen.). And proper age for alcohol consumption doesn't apply.
Anyways, hope you all like it!
-------------------------------------------
The bar was more awake than it had been in years. People were enjoying time with their friends and lovers. The clinking of glasses served as the music for the bar, even though the jukebox was in perfect working order.Walking into the establishment was a depressed Ryan Bergara. He slugged his way to an empty bar stool and had a seat as the bartender made her way over.
"What can I get you, doll?"
"Scotch, please." He answered monotonously. Even though he was depressed, didn't mean he couldn't be polite. The bartender nodded and fixed his drink.
Once the beverage was served, Ryan pulled out his phone and saw texts from a plethora of his friends.
Steven: Hey man, cheer up. Things will all work out. Call if you need.
Jen: Hey Ry. I know things suck right now, but I (like many others I'm sure.) am here for you. There will be others. Love you man.
Sara: Ryan! Keep that smile on, you hear me? Are you smiling?? I hope so. In all seriousness, I'm so sorry. What was he thinking?? It's his loss!!😁😋💞
Maycie: Hey Ryan, I hope you feel better! I'm hear if you need to talk💖
He couldn't take it. He shut his phone off completely. He wanted to forget tonight completely, hence why he's in a bar. With alcohol.
He heard the bar doors open, and people began to cheer for whoever just happened to walk in. "Shane! Hey! How are you, man?" The sea of bargoers rang out.
Ryan did nothing except take sip after sip of his liquor. The man walked next to him, standing in front of the bar. "One bourbon, Lilly." He bellowed, slipping a ten dollar bill in front of him as he said it. Ryan couldn't believe how chipper he was. How could everyone be so happy when he is suffering? 'Don't be selfish Ryan. Other people have lives.' He thought to himself.
As the bartender handed Shane his drink, Shane smiled and gestured a 'Thank You' nod as he took it. He made his way to the table nearest the jukebox, his entourage of "fans" following him. He made it to the jukebox, put in a dollar, and selected "I love Rock 'N' Roll" by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. He began to let the music sway him to a gentle groove.
Ryan knocked back his last bit of liquor and sat with his head down, sadness grabbing him by the throat, choking up tears. He just...couldn't take it anymore, and they cascaded down his face. He tried to focus on the music emanating from the player, but it was poor timing and irony that did the opposite of help (anyone else getting Shawn of the Dead vibes? Like the bar scene with Shawn and Ed after Liz broke up with Shawn?).
I saw him dancin' there by the record machine.
I knew he must've been about seventeen."I...I loved you. I loved you, Michael. I loved you, damnit! And you think its perfectly fine to go behind my back with another man?! What did I do?!?!?" Ryan broke down. The emotions were racking up, and he knew they were to burst out soon.
