With my laser ineffective, I opened the pack to peek inside. What I found made my eyes go wide as twin giant stars. There, glowing within, nestled a brilliant purple orb. Something moved inside it. That's when my captain's voice came over my radio.

"Montez! Get the hell outta there. We unscrambled the rest of Harris' message. He stole a unique energy source from these aliens and they want it back."

"You'd want your kid back too if someone stole it."

"What?"

"I'll explain later, get that sail out and prepare for immediate departure. Inbound."

Harris' primal yell died with his fuel supply. The jellies converged.

A grotesque feeding began as a throng of aliens covered his body.

I took a chance and carefully removed the creature from the sack and glided it gently towards the jellies. Two swarmed the egg as the rest retreated to feast on their kin. Food is food.

With a twist of a governing dial, I set my laser to overload. I sent it away from me and Ascension and engaged my air thrusters... dangerous but imperative.

As soon as my mag boots hit the inside deck of Ascension, I radioed the bridge.

"I'm in!"
