"No, Hide, don't die. Don't die on me. Please! You don't deserve this!" I was sitting in the living room with a box of tissues crying. It was the final Tokyo Ghoul episode and my favorite character Hide was dying. "CCG IS SO STUPID! WHY WOULD THEY PUT A MESSENGER INTO WAR ANYWAY!"
I was home alone, so I was able to be loud. When I'm home alone, I'm always in the living room either on YouTube, watching anime, or playing video games (preferably Street Fighter). That's basically my life all summed up. Other than Taekwondo of course, and I'm usually ahead in class, so I have plenty of time to spare.
Once I heard those dreaded words from Hide, I was on edge.
"Come on, Let's go home." And afterward, that pure guy dies. I had tears rushing down my face. My eyes were red and puffy. Tissues were all over the place. You can tell that when I am connected to some characters, it's hard for me to let them go.
I got out of my minor depression when I heard my phone go off. I look at it to see that Midoriya texted me.
《 Izu: Are you free? I just need someone to talk to right now 😟. 》
《 Me: Of course, I have nothing to do. You're still worried about the practical exam, aren't you? 😐😐 》
《 Izu: Yeah, I didn't score any points and got dead last. Even when I knocked out a giant robot. 》
《 Me: Don't be so sure. There has to be something for beating that robot. Either way, you did your best. At this point, that's all that matters. 》
《 Izu: Easy for you to say. You killed it at your audition. 》
《 Me: I'm not so sure. There were a lot of awesome inventions that other students had. But, I am sure that I did my best.😊😊 》
I felt bad for Midoriya. And I was tired of being in the house. So, I had an idea. I texted him back.
《 Me: You know what, get dressed. I'm picking you up. 》
《 Izu: What for? 》
《 Me: We're going out. 》

After picking up Midoriya, I took him over to the mall (We're teenagers. What else is there to do?). Basically, to take his mind off of the whole U.A. situation.
We went into almost every store there was. Especially our two favorite places: GameStop and Anime Eto. While in Gamestop, I bought all the new games, from Madden all the way to WWE 2K. I even got Sonic Forces. Midoriya just got a simple gift card to buy himself some add-ons.
In Anime Eto, It crossed my mind that my cousin's birthday was this weekend, so I bought her a couple of things. She was a huge "Free!" fangirl. Especially when it came to Sousuke. I went in that aisle and was completely filled with regret. I quickly got her a poster and a tsum-tsum-like plushie of Sousuke and headed to the cash register. There was too much fan service for me to handle.
Midoriya, on the other hand, had a truck load of anime soundtracks and All Might figures.
Lastly, we ended up in the arcade. The way Midoriya and I played was that we always did the fighting games first and whatever came to mind last.
We were basically equals when it came to that. I always defeat him in Street Fighter and he always beats me in Mortal Kombat. I don't know how, but it always ends up even when it comes to Tekken. In the end, I got a huge Pikachu and Midoriya with a Squirtle.
"Daigo!" On the way home, I see none other than my IcyHot (hehe) best friend calling me.
"Hey Shouto, what are you doing here?" Todoroki noticed Midoriya and gave a smug look. Someone was a little jealous.
"I was going to buy some snacks and come by your place. If I'm not mistaken, acceptance letters come in today." He had that same stoic look on his face.
"ACCEPTANCE LETTERS!! I HAVE TO GO!!" With a whole lot of things in his arms, Midoriya tried to get home as soon as possible; however, he stopped. "Thank you for today, Daigo. I appreciate it."
He bowed and left. I have to admit, you got to love his kindness.
IcyHot was still having a jealous look on his face. "You're not replacing me, are you?"
"For someone to be so smart, that was a dumb question. Of course not!"
He looked away, trying to ignore me. I simply grabbed him by the shoulders and turned him towards me. We were face-to-face. "Is Midoriya one of my good friends? Yes. But, he can never replace you."
That made him give me a small smile in return. That means something, since it's very rare.
After that conversation, we got the snacks and headed to my house.

"AAHHH!!!" As Todoroki and I walked into the door, I heard my mom yell. Immediately, I dropped my bags and rushed to the kitchen.
"MOM! WHAT'S WRONG?!"
"Oh! I'm sorry sweetheart, I got excited. Your acceptance letter is here!!" I froze. This was it. It was time for the moment of truth. I was about to lose it until I felt both Todoroki and my mom's hands on my shoulders. "You got this, son. I'm sure of it."
I walked into my room. I took a deep breath and told myself, 'whatever happens... it just happens'. I'll just have to think of another way to achieve my dream.
I opened the envelope to have a projector open up.
"All Might?" There was a video of All Might in front of me. I forgot that he was going to be a teacher this year.
"Ah, hello young Nakamura, from what I've seen, you really shined in the auditions. You even defeated Ingenium in a race. Well done." I smiled at that, but still, I was anxious to get my answer. "You showed confidence and intelligence. And with that, it is my distinct privilege to inform you that you have been accepted into U.A.! WELCOME TO THE HERO ACADEMIA."
I tried to hold it in, but I just couldn't take it anymore.
"MOM! SHOUTO! I MADE IT!" I burst through the door and gave both of them a huge hug. We celebrated the rest of the night. All that hard work paid off. I am now a student of U.A. High.
Midoriya's P. O. V.
《 Daigo: IZU!! I MADE IT IN!! All that's left is you to get accepted. You got this. 》
I read that text and suddenly, found hope. I don't know why he doubted himself. He aced it from the beginning.
I opened my envelope to see a projection of All Might in front of me.
"Hello, Young Midoriya. Even though you passed the written test, you got zero points in the practical exam. Sorry." I know that already. Of course I did. That's all I thought about. I'm a failure.
I clenched my fist trying to keep composure. I tried real hard not to cry.
"Fortunately, there were other factors. But before that, I have a surprise. Here, a clip for your viewing pleasure."
All Might displayed a clip of that cute girl who saved me from falling. She was trying to give me some of the points that she had gotten in the exam - to repay me for saving her from that giant robot.
"You have a quirk. Yes. But, it was your actions that inspired others. And that's why I am here. You see, the practical exam was not just on combat alone." I didn't understand. If it wasn't just that, what else could it be? "How can a Hero course reject someone who was committed to saving others, no matter the consequences. After all, that's what makes a hero." All Might said.
"And that's what U.A. is all about. We have a system of rescue points. You have 60 rescue points." Wait. So that means...
"Congratulations. You have passed the exam." Is this a joke?
"Welcome Izuku. You are now part of the Hero Academia."
I let tears fall as I realized that my life was about to change forever. I was about to enroll in the high school of my dreams.
I quickly picked up my phone and texted Daigo.
《 Daigo: I made it. I'm going to U.A. 😢😂😂 This is the happiest day of my life. 》
